Game Censorship & Localization General Thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
You also have Japanese voice actors good enough to adapt themselves in the character role they're playing as. See Sumire Uesaka in the videos below, she voices both the hostess bar manager Saeko Mukoda in Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza and the mad scientist Agnes Tachyon in Uma Musume Pretty Derby:
She also does stuff like the chainsaw cutie Hallessena (who has two very different styles of speech)
and archer fashion model Suzuna

Quite a wide range.

Found these retards in the comment section while watching this video

"It's not censorship because well uh BECAUSE IT JUST ISN'T OKAY"

"Censoring a dead man's work is good actually CHUD"

Fucking retards like these are one of the many reasons why the gaming landscape sucks so much lately.

Big boobie Halloween themed chainsaw elf girl? Neat.
Heh, that's just a special holiday unit version. She does have the chainsaw in every version though, she's a mechanical genius and assembled the thing from spare parts as a terror weapon - whereas most other people are at the tech level of "just a sword" for their weapon.

She's a Draph from Granblue, so more of a cow-woman. Hence the horns and downturned ears.
Draphs are extremely sexually dimorphic.

Men are huge (7-8 feet tall) and extremely ripped by default. Here's two (Reinhartzar and Ghandagoza) as examples:

The women, on the other hand, are all short (4-4.5 feet tall) and have huge udders, so to speak.
Here's some more Halle art, and one of Narmaya (the most famous Draph you might have seen elsewhere):

Another update on Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP
>pricing in different regions
> reports on bugs (which are being fixed)
>if there are any other tech issues please tag him
>Says the jiggle physics from Juliet's breasts arent as bouncy as they should be. This is a glitch due to parameters in the engine and is being worked on. This was caused by the different engine (KAWAII physics are used as a plug in for RePOP)

He also stated that there are false reports from gaming journalists that are lying that the game is censored when its 100% uncensored. He says he is "disappointed."
Will update for more info if I find anything worth sharing

Update - one of the retards responded to a reply and said this shit:

These pro-censorship arguments are like clockwork and easy to dismiss and should be dismissed immediately with extreme prejudice. Here's the 2 most common:

Tactic 1: WHO CARES
Pro-censorship: "Why do you care so much about this change?"
Counterargument: "Why do you care so much that you needed to change it from the original?"

Pro-censorship: "OMG WHO CARES"
Counterargument: "OMG YOU CARE, that's why you responded to me"

Pro-censorship: "OMG NOBODY CARES"
Counterargument: "OMG THE LOCALIZERS CARE, that's why they changed it"

Tactic 2: SHIT'S MINOR
Pro-censorship: "This is a minor/insignificant change bruh"
Counterargument: "If it is so minor/insignificant, why change it in the first place, bruh?"

Pro-censorship: "Calm down, stop overreacting over this"
Counterargument: "If I'm overreacting, then does that mean the localizers were also overreacting when they changed it from the original?"

Remember, the localizers/localizer-supporters aren't acting in good faith most of the time when they make these arguments. In reality, they just want you to shut up and consume.

One retard said it's censorship to want devs to follow series traditions, like Pokemon asking if you're a boy or girl, for example. As if it's infringing on their right as an artist, so therefore we're the ones pro-censorship and are snowflakes/hypocrites. It was a huge reach.

Thanks to KotakuInAction for this link.

It's a big collection of localization fails in old games and new with comparisons between the original Japanese text + translations and the "localized" English text.

The moral of the story is that everything you ever read that was touched by a "localizer" is potentially compromised. It is to the point where playing a game in Japanese and English are completely different narrative experiences.

Total. Localizer. Death.

Lunar Silver Star + Eternal Blue Remastered was announced a few days ago. Word on the street is that the script will be different from the Working Designs translation (which has its own problems). You can be sure the localizers will go through the script looking for anything offensive.

Very mild "fan service" comes in the form of "bromides" which are just SFW images of the female characters. Fat blue-hair feminists might find the bath/shower/bed ones objectionable, even if it's strategically censored by soap bubbles/steam.

So it's not actually censorship?

Is Lollipop Chainsaw the first game where the game dev actually delivered their "no censorship" promise?
I would say so. There was a new patch added for Lollipop Chainsaw that made Juliet's breast bounce even more.

Here are the patch notes that were added to the PS5 version:
The same fix as the Steam version has just been applied to the PS5 version.
In addition, this update fixes the problem with manual QTE.
Please update and check the following details.
●Fix for Juliet's physics processing (Breast sway and bust adjustment)
●Optimization of Juliet's movement speed (fixing the problem where she seems to slide after jumping on a horse)
●Fixed the problem where zombies overlapping the camera were not displayed
●Fixed the voice line in the helicopter explosion scene in Stage Zero
●Optimized the volume balance between character voices, BGM, and sound
effects.
●Fixed the bug with the zombies shaking in the training room in stage 2.
●Fixed a bug where Juliet would go into an off-limits area in the Junkyard in Stage 1.
●Fixed a bug in Time Attack (Fixed a bug that allowed extremely short clear times to be recorded. Leaderboards will be reset at a later date)
●Fixed a bug that made it difficult to manually control QTE.

The Devlopers seems to actually give a shit about the game. And they are still adding patches. The game is also coming to PS4 and Xbox One in November

Cygames has posted a shot to X of the desk of one of their localizers (who is apparently a turbo Umamusume fan), but has inadvertently revealed that the localiser is just using DeepL translation software. They are currently being called out in the quotetweets and comments for this.
