They can do an additional salty thing to delay the ascension of Donald Trump:
Members of Congress can object to any state's vote count, provided objection is presented in writing and is signed by at least one member of each house of Congress. An objection supported by at least one senator and one representative will be followed by the suspension of the joint session and by separate debates and votes in each House of Congress; after both Houses deliberate on the objection, the joint session is resumed.

Part of me really hopes they try this. Watching members of congress try to stumble through rewording "This wasn't supposed to be a real election!" to sound legitimate would be precious.

I think I've heard about Ioffe before - she's one of the many nutty Russian liberals. She left Russia many years ago, IIRC.
For me, the biggest shock from these American presidential elections was realizing how similar Russian "liberals" and American "liberals" are. Hatred of lower-class people and political opponents, ideological fanaticism (any deviation from groupthink is treason) and authoritarian tendencies based on elitism ("We know better than these people, therefore only we should have the right to vote!") have been hallmarks of Russian (and many post-Soviet) liberals for decades. I always thought they were like this because of decades of Soviet rule, which hadn't left much of a proper democratic political culture to refer to, but seeing the very same trends in the US of A is absolutely mind-boggling.
P.S. Since the word "liberal" means a different thing in US political system, I should clarify - Russian liberals aren't leftist in any way. They hate anything "communist" with a passion, and back in the 1990s, they were fine with people starving in the streets because they were filthy Commies who "didn't fit into the market [economy]". They also thought liberal democracy should be enforced by force and admired people like Chilean dictator Pinochet. For some odd reason, Russian liberals can't understand why ordinary people hate them and support Putin instead, blaming everything from state propaganda to "Russian slave mentality".

Short answer is they don't and they won't.
See, a lot of the people making the most noise have only been politically aware for the last decade or so. So they've only seen the fag end of the Bush administration and then we had the great
John Stewart getting Crossfire killed off back in 05, replacing it only with endless liberal pap infested all of television because they no longer had to hold back. In the UK, a broadcaster would be sued out the arse for such overt political bias as seen during this election.
The more swivel eyed older ones, who also happened to be the loudest, hammered into the heads of kids that THEIR TIME IS NOW! THE NUMBERS SAY WHITEY IS TOAST SO GET ON THE GLORIOUS POC TRAIN!
So when the more moderate electorate slaps them in the face when they get too high handed and hold power for two long they fucking lose it because they don't look at, or listen to those concerns, it boils down to people hating them, and racism, and thus those who don't vote for them are an enemy and so REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
The left in the Western states with the most influence (UK and US) is in an utter crisis, mostly because both were in charge of the shitshow that was "The Great Recession" which collapsed the (already hastily) cobbled together "third way" that reigned from the mid-90s to the mid-2000s.
Those same swivel-eye leftist liberals are now in charge of the reigns in both parties, and the more noise like this their supporters make, the less likely it is for someone to vote for them.
Indeed, it makes people who previously looked extreme look perfectly moderate in comparison because at least they don't scream and spit in your face when you disagree with them.
