Having dipped my feet in both cancer bio and immunology at the post grad level... uh shit's very very complex even in controlled experimental lab conditions you get results that answer one question and open up 5 more. Cancer is a big tent term, it's really a whole circus. In cancer research the classic hallmarks of cancer are: self-provided growth signals, insensitive to anti-growth signals, no programmed cell death, cellular immortality, angiogenesis (signaling to sustain blood vessel growth), and foreign tissue invasion/metastasis. Later on, there's universal agreement that dysregulated metabolism and immune evasion were also pretty universally needed as understanding of metabolism and immunology grew. So those are the big 8 traits. There's no one cancer gene, there's a countless way to develop those traits, let me explain.
There's hundreds of cell types in a human body, each of these cell types contains a whole copy of your genes, but they are differentiated by which genes are and are not expressed in any give cell. So it makes sense that the path to those 8 traits in a neuron vs a colon epithelium vs a osteoblast vs a melanocyte in your skin are all going to be very different. The phrasing of that sentence was even misleading, because there's dozens, if not hundreds of ways for any given cell type to become cancerou- most mutations are chance mutations so, for example, a 3 mutation pathway in your colon might be more likely than a different 5-mutation pathway, but if you get it you still have cancer and it still will look similar (but effective treatment drugs might look totally different). Multiply dozens if not hundreds of mutational pathways by hundreds of cell types to becoming a successful cancer and you have a lot of diseases, but it doesn't stop there!
In the a human body, an immune system has been living and adapting in that person since their fetal development and they're never quite the same, but if you have one of many vague immune conditions good luck. Cancers too aren't a static condition, to even become cancerous they've already gone through a number of mutations to by-pass normal safeguards that prevent cancers- once they become cancerous (and especially the larger and more spreadout they become if malignant, they don't stop evolving. Dealing with new tissue types they invade (a lot of cell-to-cell signaling is purely betweeing connected cells, no need for hormones or any signals in the blood, neighbors share signals, Cancers have to adapt to survive. Immune responses can also be highly localized (there's different cell types in different parts of your gi tract vs your muscles vs nervous system, ect (you get the deal right?)). Those cause more evolutionary pressures on different parts of the cancers that spread to different parts of the body. Lots of different sub-diseases with even more different mutations!
Sorry, not to ramble too hard, but cancers are hard to treat because shit's incredibly complex. It's really frustrating to hear, but it's not always as simple as cut out the tumor, use this kinase inhibitor, use this steroid. The people who get cured late stage are fucking miracles,

But, don't confuse immunodeficiency with auto-immunity. There's immunodeficiency (where your immune system doesn't work)- you don't survive congenital immunodeficiency without being bubble boy. HIV causes the other famous immunodeficiency, which before stuff like PrEP meant that some random infection that most of us wouldn't notice would eventually get you after your CD4 T-cells all died. Auto-immunity is any condition in which your own immune system attacks yourself. Way too many to go into, because it's a huge system and every cell is super complex. Some can also make getting infections more risky just because your body will overreact harshly.

The problem with autoimmune disorders is not that they "attack" the immune system. It's the symptoms related to the immune system targeting normal bodily tissues as if it's a foreign body. As an example, rheumatoid arthritis. It's debilitating and miserable, even with treatment.

Metokur has been going longer than the farms in covering this stuff. When people say Jim is old school, it's not a meme or something said in reference to his attitude towards the Internet -- he really is a long standing figure. He's been going long before the Metokur username. The overwhelming majority of his content has never relied on the farms or others to source.
You should really find the archive pages with the old content when he was at his peak. There's a reason his streams bring in 10s of thousands and he has a lot of fans. He was one of the first content creators to fully cover the madness of Tumblr and the consequences of it.
If you can find it, "how the sausage is made" is probably the most infamous video (nsfl warning though, it shows the inverting of the penis) for how on the nose it is in shitting on the mental illness of troons.

I watched Tumblrisms and Internet Insanity, they are good passing fun, the Kero thing was alright as well, I dont dislike Metokur and watch it sometimes, to the point I know he rehashed the Awesominator and that other nonce streamer (I think it was Chibi) for his Father´s Day stream. My problem with aggregators and Drama Shows is when they fucked up the info they found spilled out for them - that goes for Jersh as well; and IBS... IBS was for shitting in the pants retards.
I have way less patience for die hard Metokur fans thinking he´s beyond criticism or ridicule than with O´Furniture himself.

I had a great idea for an anime themed suicide pod that gives you a VR experience of meeting your waifu in the afterlife while the air inside is slowly replaced with helium. I was gonna give Gator a free trial once I find someone to make this a reality, but Jim might enjoy it also. It's gonna make millions.
