Final Fantasy XIV Community - Japanese MMO infested with trannies, gooners, and pedophiles

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I play the everloving shit out of FFXIV.

For a while now, ERP wierdos tend to keep within their own circles on my server. I have been approached about ERP shenanigans only once in all my time playing and I've played this game religiously since it was still in "beta" on PS3.

That being said, the ability to create what are essentially playable anime avatars attracts a lot of fucking wierdos. I think the reason trannys love the game so much is they can create a sexy anime cat girl and live vicariously through it. Their avatar can be attractive, fit, and feminine in a way they know deep down they will never be. The problem is none of it is real it's all just a bunch of rendered polygons and math.

Luckily, a huge amount of the "group" content can be done with NPC characters and the game is very solo friendly. So keeping the fucking degenerates and wierdos at arms length isn't usually an issue.

*Edit - I also want to add that while there are a lot of wierdos in the game there are also a lot of really laid back, funny, and helpful people too.

I've played this game on and off since the open beta of A Realm Reborn in late 2013, if I recall the date correctly. I can confirm that a lot of what is said in the OP is true; however, it is very easy to play the game without ever having to see or interact with the gross troon/erp community.

I play the game with my IRL friends and I deactivate the "General" and"Yell" chats. I have made friends in-game who were not creepy weirdos, and if I had made a friend who I later found out was engaging in erp, I blacklisted them. A lot of people who play the game feel the same way, to the point that these kinds of gross topics are almost never brought up within dungeon or raid content (I can't think of a single time I was forced to witness someone erp-ing against my will).

The "positivity" of the general community is not a bad thing in my opinion. If you are in a raid or a dungeon and somebody is doing something wrong, you can absolutely correct them, and I have seen actual flame wars in raid chat. It's not as much as a hugbox as some people make it out to be. Being a "positive" community member usually just means making your criticism constructive.

I think that if you let the gross elements of the community prevent you from enjoying the game, you're giving them too much power. It really is a great game with a compelling story and genuinely difficult content. The difficult content is optional in order to make the game casual-friendly, but it's there if you want it (which I do). The gameplay feels like a more polished version of WoW; I have often felt that as WoW was a major step up from Everquest in the MMORPG genre, FFXIV is an equally large step up from WoW.

The ability to play every class/job in the game on a single character (and to pay a reduced subscription in exchange for having only one character) is also a plus. When a new expansion drops with new jobs I don't have to start a new character to play them.

The ERP and Mod scene has only gotten more and more of a spotlight on it over time as even content creators are highlighting it for the sideshow attraction that it is, thus putting into greater public awareness as a whole.

I suspect your claims may be a bit disingenuous.

They highlight it because they are content creators and it gets them clicks/money.

I play the game with a group of 20 some people and raid with a solid 10ish that rotate in for our savage static and all we do is log in do dailies or raid at scheduled times then log off.

Unless you go into Party Finder or the designated Rp spots on each server (places you'd never go to otherwise i might add) then you never run into shit like that.

The fact that you don't know this means you most likely don't play the game to any serious level or randomly picked the one RP server in the sea of 50+ normal ones (the one server you would of purposely would of worked to gain access to since it's congested)

My Wife and daughter play this game, I have 1000 hours in it and have done every facet of the game from events to raids, and I'm serious you don't just get this shit flung at you unless you're looking for it.

Depends on the DC. Crystal has RP FC plastered all over it, and you are 100% certain to come across it. I do enjoy the game, and I’ve been playing it since Heavensward, but things have been getting nuts in the most recent years. It’s not as chill as it used to be. The people who write “mare” in their bio in-game use mods and should be avoided imo.

XIV twitter is always funny to look at! That’s where you can witness all the degenerates begging for attention through their avatars. Completely unhinged and full of trannies. That’s when you see that, while there are a lot of people playing the game seriously, there is about a third of them who just want to socialize and recreate some sort of dramatic “school setting”, cliques and all. The community is HUGE on twitter.

Anyway.

Shameless attention seeking. Bet it’s not the face. Archive

Conversely, you can ignore a lot of things universally if you just put the blinders on in general. But even this much didn't stop you from finding out about it.

You should also stay away from social media in general, keep your nose out of the news and politics, and stay off the internet as much as possible, and you generally won't see a lot of things that are, in fact, pervasive things once you start looking at them.

Gpose and gposing is where you'll see the bulk of this go on, IME. A lot of those people are very blatant coomers too.

Oh jeez, that's a lot of posts.

What the fuck even is Final Fantasy and how does it have trannys and whitey all crazed up like rabid animals?
Final Fantasy is a game series that hasn't cared about the definition of its name for decades. XI and XIV are MMOs.
Final Fantasy (XIV) is full of trannies because the characters don't look fugly and normal mode gameplay is easy enough to let casuals into it.
The reason why it's so bad is because SE does literally nothing about the fact that people mod the game so they can turn their characters into 10 foot tall modbeasts with Z-cups and three horsecocks.

The players are absolutely mental though. The first screenshot is one of my all time favorites. Someone seeing an in game title and somehow thinking it is actually a FC for J6ers.
Playing it for long enough will make you wish the holocaust actually happened and that they did something about the mentally retarded as well.

We have no hard numbers, but by modern guesstimates, a lot of people seem to be inclined towards throwing 25-30% out as a number for Savage raiding – potentially higher on JP data centers.

I haven't seen any numbers quoted for Ultimates, but I have noticed a lot more people were in a big rush to clear every Ultimate (and successfully did so in a lot of cases) before Dawntrail dropped, so take that as you will.
Hello, person who autistically looks at XIVCollect numbers here.
While these numbers aren't exactly accurate (e.g. "10%" of players have the Alpaca but "22%" of players have completed Dawntrail, or 1.1% and 3% for Apocryphal Bahamut, or 2.8%/7.8% for the Magicked Card), they come from a sample size of 871,098 characters, 230,317 of whom have public achievements.
HIGH-END CONTENT NUMBERS:
Solo Deep Dungeons: 0.9%, 1%, and 0.8% each
Criterion Savage: 1.4%, 0.9% and 1.4% each. ASS normal has 5.5%, the other two normal criterions have 3%.
Current Extreme Trials: 10% and 12% for the 7.0 trials. The lowest Endwalker one is 15% (6.5 EX Trial)
Savage Raids: 33% (E4S), 23% (E8S), 24% (E12S), 20% (P4S), 14% (P8S), 9.8% (P12S), 3.2% (M4S). Eden is a joke now that you can unsync it but I'm still putting it here for comparison.
Ultimate Raids: 7.3% (UCoB), 12% (UWU), 8.6% (TEA), 4.9% (DSR), 3.2% (TOP)
Blue Mage Shit: Around a 2-3% rate for ARR/HW EX trials, 1-2% for SB/ShB. 4.5% and 3.5% for ARR and HW Savages, 1.2% for SB and 0.6% for ShB. (All of this has to be done synced with no echo.)
Bozjan Duels: 3.5%/2.4%/3.4% in Bozja, 1.5%/1.9%/1.6% in Zadnor. 1.3% for having all six of them completed.

Lalachievements' numbers are around 1.5x to 2.25x this amount on most achievements, though it says that M4S has been completed by 17.4% of its tracked playerbase. This is mostly down to the japanese playerbase using this instead of XIVCollect.

Has anyone talked about the Dalamud devs in this thread (not seen anything)? Dalamud is THE plugin that lets people add other plugins/mods to the game and comes automatically/optionally with the game if you use XIVLauncher, a 3rd party client launcher that's leagues better than the original one.

Predictably, all people use it for is add NSFW mods.
Devs? No. I've talked about Punish though.
You're forgetting about the cheat plugins that come through Dalamud instead of through MMOMinion.
Artisan has been downloaded and/or updated over 600 thousand times. Splatoon over 187 thousand times.

But since you're asking, here's a list of some popular mods and their developers.
Caraxi - SimpleTweaks, a mod that literally no-one who uses Dalamud can play without. Also some other stuff.
Ottermandias (Character) - Penumbra and Glamourer, the outfit mods. Had a spergout where he tried to prevent people from using Glamourer to do what people use it for. Also develops Accountant.
Darkarchon (Character) - Developer of Mare Synchronos which is why sex clubs are even able to exist.
MidoriKami (Currently not in the Dalamud Discord) - Developer of DailyDuty, SortaKinda, CurrencyAlert, Mappy, and some other stuff. His plugins have a tendency to reset configs every single time they're updated for no concievable reason.
Infi (Character) - Chat2, Tracky, XIVLogger, Eventy, Eureka Linker, some other stuff.
Liza Carvelli (Took her plugins off of Github several months ago) - Questionable, other stuff
Limiana (NightmareXIV) - Lifestream and TextAdvance
Veyn (awgil) - BossMod/Bossmod AI, Artisan AI
Croizat (Gruvbox, Character) - SND and Automaton
Taurenkey (Character) - Saucy, most Punish plugins, XIVSlothCombo
LTS - Rotation Solver Reborn
NostraThomas - GatherBuddy Reborn
Malediktus (Character) - Boss Mod Reborn
Azure Gem ("Sonar Team") - Sonar Plugin
Kawaii (Kyte, has a twitter where he would be posting his modbeast if he wasn't currently in the Ukraine fighting a war) - Moodles, Hyperborea
Haselnussbomber - HaselTweaks, has a steam account linked to his discord that has over a thousand games in its collection
Attick - XIVCombo, has been inactive in the Dalamud discord for 2 years
Several more that I don't have the energy to look for right now. Feel free to add others to the list, all of the (Character) links are a result of the developers not having enough opsec to use a different discord account for their BA/DRS runs or Ultimate PF Gloating, at least for the EU DCs.

The people who write “mare” in their bio in-game use mods and should be avoided imo.
Also people who have vagueposts about the moon.

Hello, person who autistically looks at XIVCollect numbers here.
A part of me wonders how many of those are alts and/or paid static clears considering how many people run around with Savage drops and Ultimate titles, but are demonstrably incompetent with all other aspects of the game in practice.

It's pretty common if you're in those circles. People know other people who are progging shit and if someone shows up overnight with the TOP weapon or the DSR title, they're gonna do digging.

If folks aren't 100% sure, they dig through xivlogs. If their logs are private, that's usually a telltale sign. If they aren't, you can see who they're doing the run with (there's a set of known paid clearers on Aether, for example, who all have names from FF4 characters) and can usually determine from there.

I'd estimate 15-20% of people who have cleared the last 2 Ultimates are paypal legends. I'd argue another 10% of people who have cleared have done so on alts. I know people in my circle who have cleared multiple Ultimates on alt chars of their own.

Savage and EX content isn't as unforgiving and lots of players will do mercenary runs where they pay folks gil to basically hardcarry their asses through content.

Anecdotally, I had a party member the other night (from duty finder) wearing mostly ilvl 730 gear, but we were doing AAC Light-heavyweight M3 (normal), and he couldn't go more than 2 mechanics in a row without dying.

Absolutely. A month or so ago, Aether was jam-packed with PFs requesting mercenary runs for gil just for EX1 and 2 clears + mount drops, which is a little humorous for me considering how mechanically easy EX1 is after having tried it a couple of times.

Subbed for a while (shout-out to Rungle) and ended up being invited to and joining a guild which I quickly discovered was full of what seemed to be working single mothers.
I blame my autism for not leaving the guild sooner, but they were friendly and the guild convos were a bit too personal for my liking.
All around an awkward experience until I dropped the game in early Stormblood.

Oh boy its about time we got an ff14 thread, glad the dating profiles i screenshotted on a whim got featured in the OP.

NA as a community is completely ruined by people paying for others to do content with them, so glad i don't play on there.

Yeah the raiding community is fairly small even on larger servers. if someone pays money to get a carry you can almost always tell. People who get found out paying real money for clears will generally get mocked relentlessly and basically get ostracised from the raid community until they change data centers.
I feel like no one knows how to keep it professional which is why things always fall apart. Both men and women.
Funny thing is i've been friends with some men and women through final fantasy for like 6-8 years. All you need to do is just act normal which is a big ask for a lot of people in an online game it seems. From what i've seen and heard, women can tell very quickly when there's something off about a player and if they're also normal they'll avoid the weirdos.

On the flipside, I have encountered quite a few players whos characters and search info shout mental disorder and they tend to group up in these clusters of constantly forming and disbanding free companies and basically date between each other in a constant cycle of in game drama and breakups. They also tend to constantly be dressed in modded edgy outfits and have skins that give them a ton of cuts, scars, burns, and tattoos.

Yeah, a good way of gauging is peeking at xivlogs if you're curious. If they have few/no kills, low parses (aside from their one kill), etc. it's usually a good sign they're a paypal legend.

Any lolcow worthy person in the ff14 community worth following?

It's kinda wild this page is so small and just out of PG. I never really searched for it but assumed there was already a thread like this. There's a lot of silly faggotry with FFXIV. from deathly overpriced cosmetics to clever trolls to the sheer amount of circa 2010s overaged nerdy retards. It sucks because the gameplay inherently isn't bad if you're into MMOs (to me it always felt like guild wars but violently commercialized.) But you have to deal with so so much weird internet shit. It kind of reminds me of playstation home in that regard, a great idea ruined by groomers, faggots, and a batshit community. Good post OP, there's some shit shifty enough it could put 2nd life to shame.

Names escape me at the moment and I don't currently feel like combing over the last 16 pages, but, IIRC, someone did throw out a list of names for modders that generally cause a stir every so often in the community earlier in the thread and that can be a pretty good place to start.

It's a rabbit hole though. One cow leads to another leads to another. Plenty of calves in the mix too.

EDIT:
Fuck, you could make a thread on the modding community as a whole with some choice lolcows like Nyaughty, Caroline/ElysiumMods, Bizu, Illyriana, the Lalafell modders who borderline on ABDL/age regression and their war with the NSFW Lala lewders, Raykie (who got the ire of the pooners because being a gay Brazillian guy he was too spicy for them), Josuki, the Au Ra guy who threatened legal action or someshit over someone's mod over crystalized horns for Au Ra and him thinking he is the only one who can use them, Titan Firm who's basically stollen people's Patreon money by not posting anything each month and claiming computer trouble, the Body Replacement wars...
This post in the very first page. Turns out I didn't have to look that far at all.

I know Bizu in particular is highly divisive as they like dropping "hot takes" like crazy.

really goes to show just how little you need to dig to find so much content for a thread in this community lol

Honestly yeah. Tbh I've not had any interest in FF nor played it in years because elder scrolls online is just an inherently better experience imo. In FFs case, I have a distinct memory of seeing ERP in fucking starter zones... multiple times.I do remember a particularly funny gag character that happened at an event where somebody dressed as Todd Howard and started giving away copies of an in game book called oblivion. The only community that ive seen thats comparable is DC Universe Online because it's just a bunch of maladjusted internet kids and porch monkeys trying to play internet tough guy. Both also have the same issue of paypiggies being around for almost or well over a decade, making even dedicated play a fucking migraine.
