Tornado yesterday in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Irwin Tennessee has been destroyed, along with its attending stretch of Interstate 26. The switch back to the 5 day forecast with sunshine is just jarring.

My state (which is not in the region and unaffected by Helene) is unilaterally mobilizing our national guard and utility workers since there's no FEMA guidance. Help is coming, even if the feds are sleeping on this. God bless and stay safe.

Haha nice... Asheville got FUCKED up. I love that area but big schadenfreude on all the faggots (actual and metaphorical) who live there. There's not a huge amount of cool or "based" people living right in the middle of all that noise.
The stretch of 74 going down to lake lure is another story, those are hilltowns and that's where the local rednecks and geriatrics live (also tourists but tourists deserve the rope). I was just up there. Guy I know lives 10 minutes above Chimney Rock overlooking the river... he should have one hell of a story to tell once I get a hold of him, I doubt he's dead, mountain boyz don't die that easy. The riverside tourist/motel/party area around Bat Cave must be gone too if Chimney Rock washed out.

All USAR teams east of the Mississippi have been deployed, supposedly the USAR teams in Missouri and Texas have been as well.
Interstate federal disaster response and coordination is probably one of the few powers you can directly argue is directly enumerated power under the General Welfare clause in Article I, section 8.
Dumbass probably never been exposed to a hurricane or severe weather her entire life requiring help from others.
Same type of people who wants to stop sending resources ("we're wasting money") to every hurricane that shows up to the gulf coast states, but then bitches for more fed help when they get affected.
They also aren't subject to the Posse Comitatus Act and don't have to wait for retard state governors like that dumb bitch (The first and last female governor of LA) and the NO mayor in Katrina.
Joyce might be headed to the east coast (VA/NY) as well. I sure hope not.

We're getting live updates here: Our fast water rescue teams are on the ground and being choppered to their staging area and our utility workers should be arriving tomorrow. Additionally, our hydroelectric authority has announced they're dispatching their emergency engineering team to North Carolina and should arrive tomorrow.

Erwin, TN, where that footage of the hospital being evacuated is from, is also the location of one the nations only Nuclear Fuel Services plants, which is makes fuel to power nuclear submarines. Hopefully that will convince the Fed to step in a little. But I doubt it. Unicoi County is incredibly poor. They are the definition of the little guy.
Damascus, VA is also underwater, which means route 58 may also be damaged. People I know who live in the impacted zones are concerned about fuel shortages because so many roads are out of order.
