Warhammer 40k

If Stanley Kubrick had ended up directing that 40k movie, current-day 40k would've revolved around the Inquisition rather than the Space Marines.
just a thought.
I genuinely believe 40K as a movie could only work in a few genres. War movie, Alien invasion, crime drama & political thriller / spy movie.
War movie - PDF vs rebellious clergy or ork waagh.
Alien Invasion - A good old fashioned Tyranid invasion.
Crime drama - Arbites vs gangers
Political thriller / spy - Inquisition investigation looking into the actions of a corrupt planetary governor.

Comedy movie - Just add Orks and let them fight in an Rok each other out of boredom.

Romantic Comedy - Slannesh cultists...Before the aforementioned Rok crashes down near them.

Survival Horror - The end result of the above.

There, I now qualify as an BL writer.

Behold: the Piss Ravens.

Finally got through the Rogue Trader DLC, had to make a new savefile. New DLC, overpowered bullshit etc. Bravo Owlcat.
It's pretty good, although I'm really not feeling Kibellah, her voice actor is trying really, really hard and she just sounds grating, and in general she is very weird romance pandering that just doesn't mesh with the rest of the cast well. They really, really wanted money this time it seems.
The quest is great although it comes with the mandatory terrible Iconoclast major decision to force me to go 2/2 with Dogmatic.
The bath scene makes for funny memes but it really should have differentiated in scenes between romanced and non-romanced, Owlcat still struggles with reactivity.
Anyway, Cassia still busted, Kibellah gigabusted, next DLC is Arbites because we clearly needed more Imperium humans in a Rogue Trader game, left holding my limp dick waiting for more xenos companions.

Slowly crawling up the Inquisition ranks with my Sister of Battle in, uh, Inquisition. A goddamn crime the consoles are a patch cycle behind the PC, though - offline play and being able to choose what Season I play in would be fantastic. Season of Judgement has been fun, but it makes characters so ludicrously overpowered.

Got into SM2 as well. Loving the multiplayer, but the campaign kind of annoyed me. That sequence where you have to activate generators while bombarded with Zoanthropes and Rippers did not feel as if it had been tested for single player at all. Had to drop the difficulty to grind through that.

Milkmarines or Cummarines?
Friendly reminder that Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40K Movie in 4K is free on youtube:
Honestly stuff like this shows how far we've come with 40k animations. When I first discovered the setting there wasn't a whole lot in the way of animations besides cutscenes and trailers from Dawn of War and Space Marine 1.

So, played my 1st crusade game 1k points (the rules is that you can add more points once a month I believe) and was my orks vs salamanders, the mission was that Salamanders needed to sent out a signal and my orks needed to prevent it. Suffice to say, I got a tad greedy with my ork agendas and kinda got crushed.

Yeah I wanted more xenos too. I feel like there's a lot of potential in having an ork companion. You'd have to deal with their spores reproducing but apparently some of the outer rim orks are more civil? Also having a squat could really flesh them out more and create some interesting drama.
Half eldar space marines were previously a thing in rogue trader, and retconned out. The emperor isn't in a position to declare anything and even if he somehow did, it would take hundreds or possibly thousands of years for it to get through the bureaucracy. Additionally, most normal imperium citizens have no idea what an eldar even is, let alone that they exist, even most guardsmen haven't seen one and only would have read about them from their primer or some other similar source.

But to "finally" get half eldar space marines? You're a few decades late.

Also, most of the eldar themselves are xenophobic as well to the point of the idea being a joke, nevermind that it isn't even certain if their or a human's biology in the current lore would even allow it.
Late but I just really like the idea of a desperate craft world or whatever semi assimilating into imperial society. Sort of like post wild West Indians. You'd have to bend a lot of rules but it would be a very interesting storyline. Rogue trader gave me the idea with how easily they fooled the planetary government

Most outer rim Orks are made of BloodAxes or FreeBootaz, those usually you can make deals with and etc. Heck, imagine having a BloodAxes Mekboi on your ship.

It really wouldn't be possible inside the Imperium proper but there's a lot of places on the fringes of known space that are more like Star Trek or Mass Effect where humanity is just one of many different species. Its a shame those places where the Emperor's Light just doesn't quite reach don't get explored more by writers.

Fuck, why would you tease a faction and not have us fight them?

I get that the Necron tactic of "walk forward slowly and shoot" doesn't translate well to melee combat, but cmon.
I mean it should’ve been obvious. Nids usually avoid tomb worlds. Genestealers would’ve been better rolling up with tanks.

I don't know, Rogue Trader got enough eldar and rogue imps. What the game could use is a trusty ork, maybe a kroot, or another marine or imperial enforcer or bounty hunter type.

One thing was that you did very little rogue trading, you were more of a governor for your own Imperial domain. Most xenos interactions was with eldar too, and thus less of trade. Squabbling with orks over loot would have been fun.

You would need a really good writer to pull this off, something which is in short supply in current black library.

I totally get why they don't explore it more. They don't really want to present a viable alternative to the imperium that takes the wind out of it's sails. isolated planets or small domains run like the Interex are possible but most of the alternative powers got taken out during the great crusade. If you play your cards right you can actually successfully rebel in rogue trader but the success rate isn't high in lore.

You basically need to be either allied to the tau, in a difficult to access location or be so dam far away from everything else your practically in another galaxy. Humans also don't really have a good reputation with most civilized alien races on the fringes.

I appreciated that there were star trek options to talk before shooting, even if 80 percent of the time that didn't work. The biggest disappointment is there weren't more original or obscure aliens in it to talk to.

I was going to say the whole eldar joining up with the imperium thing has to be at least viable because of them letting in cat people... Then I realized we've never actually seen a single cat person.

Would laugh my ass off if the whole cat race thing was somehow made up by enterprising eldar who wanted the perks of imperial citizenship.
