Both KR and TNO are coded by children and mentally ill university students, so it's not surprising they come to the same conclusions. KR and TNO influence each other in an endless loop, which perpetuates even as their playerbase declines. Both have become progressively (pun intended) blander over the years, as their dev channels became overly bureaucratized ideological masturbation sessions. Neither has clear leadership, so nobody will take responsibility for the health of the mod as a whole. There are git owners, but they just hang in the background and abuse their control over the code to force other devs to bend over for them. "Lore conflicts" and "outdated design" are bywords for "the regional teams were having a retard fight". The devs put on airs in public chats, but their cretinism is betrayed by their utterly incompetent release schedule. The only reason they aren't consistently lambasted is because their userbase is staffed by yet more children and mentally ill university students.
When a hypothetical hoi5 comes along in several years, I don't think KR and TNO will make a clean jump. KR will have to deal with competition from KX as well as new and up and coming modders. TNO will be stuck on hoi4 for several years at least, and if it ever releases, any wide appeal will be long gone. This is all of course assuming that hoi5 isn't an utter cesspit like ck3 and vic3.
