From what I've been told, they believe the hacking was done after the election. The RNC and the DNC were hacked, while the DNC was leaked.
They're worried the info will be used for blackmailing, etc.
It's a serious infosec risk and it kind of makes me worry.
So the hacking didn't influence the election then.
The only reason people have their panties in a twist about all of this is because it's not being controlled or benefiting certain parties. The US has admittedly and willfully interfered in Russian politics before (many times, that's just an example), the CIA is a known lie factory (WMD for example) & aren't even the top intelligence agency anymore. The information risk is no higher than usual, on either side, it's just that it's being reported on by the MSM with such furore as a means to an end. They are whipping or trying to whip up the public into a reactionary frenzy to restore what they see as the "correct order of things" - ie leftist politics being the one and only norm.
Look at how people treat black people who have an opinion that is different from the herd. Look at how anyone who questions official narratives gets tarred as a crackpot conspiracy theorist.
People get charged on a small scale with conspiracy everyday and no one bats an eyelid, but when suggesting that an institution does it, it's "INSANE"...except when an institution suggests it. IMAGINE if conservatives said that the Russians hacked the election outcome. They'd get called crackpots.
When someone with sacred cow status like the MSM or the CIA completely control the narrative, are unquestionable and use something that happens all the time anyway to their own advantage, that's a bigger risk to national and personal security than cherry picked information leaks or impossible vote hacks. The CIA is out-salting everyone.
