A lot of bilingual schools (that most students who study abroad go to) are little more than diploma mills taught by the first white English speakers with a pulse they can find (aka me). If a student is doing poorly the parents bitch to the admins who then bitch to the Chinese teachers who then bitch at the foreign teacher who is then told to just give the student a passing grade no matter what even though the student is doing jack shit in class and for writing assignments they openly plagiarizing Chinese articles and turn them into English by running them into Google translate.

They then try to do this shit in a different country's Uni and say copying things wholesale is how they cite things in their culture.

Personally I blame the parents for not demanding better of their children and the school for letting this become the norm.

I’m having the opposite experience. I live in a place most of you would consider a liberal hellhole, but several women I know are warming up to Trump. Mostly non-white women, which is interesting, but that just might be because of where I live. They don’t exactly like him, but the Harris campaign is too bad to ignore and people are broke.

Nobody should put too much stock in anecdotes, I guess is what I’m saying. It’s all over the place.

White women are more vocal, maybe I'm just blackpilling. Actually, the non-white women are warming up to him even in my area. Funny that.

The 2020 Democrat primary was the final nail in the coffin for me that democracy is nothing more than a joke. That's when Bloomberg was in and was getting 14% of the vote by dumping hundreds of millions into the race, and was the top contender for a brief bit.. I remember youtube videos of people asking Bloomberg supporters what he stood for and none of them could answer, cause he really didn't have a platform and they had just saw him on tv and apparently he was famous.

It was basically William Randolph Hearst running for office, seeing as how he owns Bloomberg.com.

Watching Kamala fumble everything makes me think of the horrible consequences of showing that a candidate who only does the bare minimum can win. Is she even capable of doing anything that isn't blatantly self-serving?

I bet internal discussions between the Harris Campaign and the White House was a hoot Sunday as Kamala didn't send her "I'm totes coming to help" tweet till like 11pm in the evening as I recall.

We know part of Kamala's campaign is pretending very hard that the current administration is not "hers" - but because Biden gave her the chance to run, she has to awkwardly dance around this issue. So there's this situation where sometimes she still plays her VP role like when she showed up with Biden for the Russian hostage transfer, but most of the time basically pretends she ain't running shit right now and it's supposed to be left to Biden (or more accurately, Biden's white house team)

But White House is yelling at her to get her ass back and start looking into whats going on in NC because Orange Man's making it a thing - while Kamala's team is noting that she's not the president yet and has an election to win. Biden then ends up saying on tape there's no funds left to help Americans while in his typical brain fog mode. Kamala is forced to reluctantly agree to come back and give FEMA a visit. While Joe is just too out of it to really go to affected cities because he really will just be an additional burden. I bet she's pissed that another L from this Admin can be tied to her again.

In comparison - technically Trump has all the more reason to sit this one out. It's not his administation and - while it would of been a dick move - he could of pointed out Kamala and Joe doing jack and left it there.

I think the VP debate has potential to be entertaining - even if it will be mostly the mods asking Vance why he hated Trump so much several years ago and if he's fucked any couches lately

Boy I sure wish/hope they have some Nixon or JFK style recordings of what was going on in that insane asylum. I went through Harvey and while we made out alright, but alot of people around me didn't. I spent about a week or two mucking out my friend's houses. A girl I knew from my father's brief sojourn to NJ my Jr. Year, decided to take it on herself to try and raise funds to Planned Parenthood. Because when your house, your car and everything else you own has just been under water, and you're not really sure where what you're going to cook for your next meal (or how you're going to heat it)... you really just find yourself worrying about abortion.

Fast food hasn't been fast or cheap since even before covid. You are way way better off using uber eats at some local place than any big chain now. Hell, even Pizza hut can fill you for a whole day for about what a large combo anything at McDonalds or Wendys has now.

Apparently fast food has an even more of an inelastic demand than even booze. Cigs, booze, drugs, and gambling used to be the 'people will pay any amount for this' level. Now it's a damn big mac.
