AFAIK their main goal, more than a wage increase, is to ban the use of robots at ports as much as possible. This was even in Season 2 of The Wire. If the ports can get far enough with automation they can cut the use of humans to a fraction of what it is now. Also the reason they're letting military cargo through is probably so they don't get hit with terrorism charges. I don't know if the feds could threaten them with the same laws that were used against those railroad workers but if they got in the way of the military they would find a way to screw them over no matter what.

Seems that pushing the strike now, during a hurricane, just makes it easier for the Ports to paint the Unions as greedy and refuse to capitulate to "terrorists" exploiting a tragic situation to hurt the country. If anything, they could probably use this to get Federal funding to fully automate (like foreign ports have been moving towards) on the grounds of national security, to keep this sort of situation from happening again.

This Union boss is so bad at optics it feels forced. Maybe the ports bribed him to make the Union look even worse?

Let me tell you that the word on the street and the ground is people are basically like "eh, fuck 'em, they deserve a strike" - knowing little to no details.

Many people don't know WHY women were banned from speaking in Churches. It's because they fucking change things. The moment women get in power they'll change things that are disadvantageous to them. Or they'll refuse to read passages they find icky or don't like. It was long discovered that women have a nasty habit of changing policies and definitions in the name of optimization and "making things better". Except this kind of stuff is what caused total schism and splits in the past. It's not necessarily done out of malice, it's just something women unconsciously do.

That's the actual problem though they people don't seem to get. Sobering up fast was a positive about alcohol, not a negative. The problem with weed is that it's high lasts longer. For edibles, sometimes that high and sluggishness lasts for days. You are literally not capable of doing anything other than sitting on the couch watching JewTube and Idiot Box for hours. You can somewhat reasonably function after a few beers. You cannot function after smoking a joint or two. That's my problem with it. It's a far greater time waster than booze ever was and people for some reason don't seem to understand why that isn't a good thing.

I don't think that fortification would lead to a 50/50 split, especially with how hard Kamala is dropping the ball, fortification is becoming less and less likely to save her. Maybe some of the FEMA budget was used to bet on Harris and keep it competitive?
