Finally got through the fucking VP debate after fucking around at the dealership and trying to find a video to listen to on my drive home. All I can say is that listening to Walz is like listening to a teenager give a book report. Standout moment is when he was pressed on his stance on abortion, danced around the question, pressed to give a proper answer, and then danced around the question. It's amazing to me how someone who has been involved with politics since the Bush era is able to deliver speeches as swiftly as UPS and gives answers about as straight as Ted Haggard. Also, if anyone needs the mics cut off, it's the fucking "moderators".

There were so many opportunities for Trumpian style rebuttals that Vance deliberately did not pursue. When Walz talked about how he benefitted from the GI bill, Vance didn't attack him for stolen valor. When Walz tried to fearmonger over the prospect of Trump prosecuting his political enemies, Vance didn't bring up Jack Smith, Fani Willis, or Juan Merchan. There was no mention of tampons in boys' rooms or bottom surgeries for illegal alien detainees. No Haitian haute cuisine. Absent were bombastic lines like "because you'd be in jail" or "excuse me, I'm speaking."

Instead, Vance scored a decisive victory by relying solely on scholarship and the appeal of the Trump platform. I'd like to say that such a masterful performance would convince fencesitters - those that like the policies but hate the man - to turn out for Trump in November, but as others have noted, the only people bothering to tune in to a VP debate probably have already picked their horse long ago.
