because some members are in tight with the chief either as relatives or friends or whatever and get benefit from that. Only a small minority in comparison would even complain about the status quo. The rest are ignorant or too busy partying/getting half-cut or huffing gas.

I know some natives, who are at most a quarter native, who will be getting six figure payouts for land settlements. They've never lived on a reservation and by looking at them you'd never guess they were native.

One of the great ironies of Canadian politics is that this group is the most infantilized demographics in the nation. Seriously, many of them are emotionally-stunted Boomers that operate under the delusion that Canada is the same country it was when they were young adults in the late sixties and early seventies. Never mind the fact that Pierre Trudeau's economic policies led to great hardship in the eighties and early nineties. Most of them dismiss current polling because "muh landlines", never mind the fact that the CPC had polled 15-20 points higher than the Liberals for over a year. Moreover, matters are not getting better for the LPC after the NDP pulled out of the supply-and-confidence agreement. The CPC introduced two confidence motions, the Bloc has issued its ultimatums, so it is the cowardice of the nearly-bankrupt NDP that barely keeps this government standing.

Fair enough, these idiots forget that Justin Trudeau is a trust fund brat because of his grandfather while his father essentially paved his political career. His most notable job experience is a brief tenure at West Point Grey Academy before he left under undisclosed and dubious circumstances, fueling rumors that he getting handsy with a student. La petit dauphin has lived life on easy mode and his rise to power is a textbook example of nepotism. Factor in the fact that his groomsmen occupied powerful cabinet positions and we have a healthy dose of cronyism in this brew of corruption.

None of these idiot realize that JT cannot campaign like he did in 2015 because is a known entity. Most of his support has eroded to the point where downtown Toronto and the island of Montreal are no longer reliable fortresses. The youth hate him because his policies increased cost of living to an absurd degree and it's getting nigh-impossible for anyone rational to support him after countless scandals. He is a spent force that should have been shown the door months ago. Martin's wing of the LPC ousted Chretien while his personal popularities still polled in the 40s after three successive majorities and Justin's looking to dip below 25. What his idiot supporters fail to realize is that there is no coming from this. There is no amount of fear-mongering and condescension that will fix JT or the party's reputation. They had best brace themselves for the blue wave primed to wash them away.

Water plants are ridiculously expensive, like $12 mil at a minimum for a plant alone to serve 750-1500 people. Then you gotta factor in the treatment chemicals, energy a plant consumes, maintenance (lol), testing (lol again) and the cost to pump the water to the houses. Sewer isn't quite as expensive for small communities, but it still takes energy to run lift stations and meet minimum treatment standards. So basically the feds build these over-engineered (imo) systems, nobody knows how to do anything but basic maintenance and operations and anything beyond that requires flying in a specialist at $1500/day plus parts, people don't pay their bills and that all adds up to a system that is going to fail catastrophically in short order.

Also, if you don't want to go to college/uni, then go to a trade school for water treatment. It pays decent, is usually unionized and you can work in any place across Canada that has a public water system. if its anything like the US those jobs are reserved for friends and family. not due to any kind of malicious nepotism, but because hiring your family to run the water company instills stability and accountability (unlike publicly traded firms)

There's zero convinction in anything resembling a recovery; at best the hope is that PP will make some moderate effort to momentarily stop the bleeding.

Boomers however seem to live in some state of sheer delusion that Canada is just going through a "rough time", and things will turn right around soon enough and we'll be back into an economic renaissance. Heard one recently on how anyone "panicking" (observing trends evident to anyone without the insular safety of an RRSP/401k) is just heckin feeding into the "Conservative rage bait propaganda".

Their own children could be priced out of every shithole low wage job in their periphery by a horde of nepotistic jeet orcs and they'd probably still just turn on the TV with their infantile brains needing to be dripfed from the CBC/CTV bottle. It's made me realize how little they actually understand about basic financial or social principles - they've never had to even once consider pesonal budgetary constraints, prospects of social collapse, outbreaks of crime, mass wage stagnation, etc.

but the economy was still so good that you could literally walk into an office, hand in a resume, shake someone's hand and get a job- or in a certain boomer I know's case, be a history major, work for two years in an office, and then when computers became a thing 'Hay, you seem like you can probably figure this out, want a job as a programmer?'

One of the worst tragedies of the dismantling of Canada is the death of the Canadian University system.

They went from respected institutions of honest study to literal jeet passport farms with academic positions reserved mostly for nonwhite non-Canadians.

The boomer reminisces about drinking with their friends, speaking English, and graduating into a job market with actual jobs with a degree that commands international respect from a first world country enabling the boomer to move abroad if they so desire.

The zoomer endures jeet hordes from Dante's Inferno, nobody speaks English, everybody cheats, there's zero school community or spirit, they graduate into a job market that doesn't employ Canadians because they bring in jeets only on LMIA or TFW to make some money that the RCMP will not investigate per instruction of the Liberal Party, and the degree isn't respected abroad because the rest of the world knows that Canadian universities are dogshit diploma mills now.

I had a boomer relative once suggest I should go back to grad school and I responded saying that if I was going to grad school it would be in an actual country that isn't a joke and they acted like I killed their dog.

And I'm talking about the actual universities, not the literal passport printers that are the strip mall colleges.

My experience with leaf boomers finally wising up always comes from their interaction with the failed healthcare system.

Normally they have some painful condition like needing a knee replacement and they have to wait years for surgery. They normally take one of three paths.

1. Admitting the system has failed (knew a socialist boomer that died of cancer because they had to wait months for an MRI)
2. Being rich and going abroad for actual healthcare, exploring options to leave permanently, or just not having a problem with going abroad for all needs, but good luck in the ER lmao.
3. Going full NDP and suffering immensely and continuing the "at least I'm not American" as they wheeze to death as if it's the early 2000s.

This is easy to understand. If you got in the housing and job markets when the getting was good (20-40 years ago) you are insulated from the primary pressures infinity Indians put on society. So you just wonder why young Canucks can't do as well as you did in the 80s. Maybe you find it peculiar that every single lower class job in Canada is done by a Jeet who doesn't speak English or even French.

This very much applies to the US too. Yet the only answer our leaders provide is infinity Indians.

Maybe if you're talking about schools that used to be community colleges but somehow got the "university" label and don't do much research. The actual research universities like McMaster or University of Toronto are still well-respected, and coincidentally, those tend to be free from passport-seeking immigrants and cheaters because students who go to those schools care more about their work. However, there is something to be said about the passport seeker problem at non-research universities, community colleges, and strip mall schools -- those people act like they're better than everyone else since they live off Daddy's credit card.
