Curious that not one of those shows hired her after she took their advice.

I never apologized for the tweet and I never will.

Today I’m less certain and more curious than I was four years ago. I’ve made humiliating mistakes while covering political news because I was previously unwilling to consider or understand the perspective of Americans who vote differently from me.

We should all grow and evolve but we also must be careful. I've been disagreeing with the Left on social justice issues since roughly 2013 because as a black man I found it RIDICULOUS that you have all these privileged college kids acting like they're oppressed and going through Jim Crow because of the occasional unjustified killing of a black person by cops. The fact that the liberal media has been going along with it and indulging this has also really bothered me.

I also don't understand why the left acts like being tough on immigration is racist or intolerant, when there's no excuse for having such a porous border. As a New Yorker I even applauded when they started sending busses of migrants to New York City. I thought that was genius! (And hilarious).

By 2016 I was ready to vote Republican after seeing what the DNC did to Bernie. I really was.

And then they nominated Donald Trump.

Having an open mind is good and great, but we have to be CAREFUL. After years of watching the Trump Era unfold it's clear that there is absolutely ZERO equivalence between Republicans and Democrats anymore. I used to defend Trump from liberals by saying that they're overreacing, and Trump hadn't done a quarter of the damage to this country that GWB did. But boy was I wrong. This man has single-handedly destroyed the Republican party, turning it into a party of sycophants who will lie like we've never seen politicians lie in modern political history. Those who've have the backbone to stand up on principle have been completely routed from the party and will slowly fade into obscurity. Trump's behavior alone has been so destructive in poisoning the atmosphere in this country that he's turned republican voters into a truly nasty bunch of people who will defend Trump's worst deeds and words. School bullying has been on the rise, threats against journalists and judges have been on the rise, Trump has succesfully delegitimized every American institution in the eyes of his base. So Scientists are wrong, Academics are wrong, Journalists are wrong, fact-checkers are wrong, Doctors are wrong, the FBI is wrong, Our entire intelligence community is wrong.....Everybody is wrong except Donald Trump.

We've never dealt with anything like this. It turns out the liberals I used to dismiss as being over the top were right, as Trump indeed came close to destroying almost 250 years of Democratic tradition in the United States back in 2021 and it's insane that the only thing that truly stopped him was a Vice President who was willing to destroy his career to save the Republic. After years of "Hitler" epithets thrown at Trump's way the man actually DID tried to pull off a Beer Hall Putsch and came close to succeeding in throwing out government into chaos. So the liberals were right.

If we continue in this direction we won't have a free country where we can have heated discussions about Trans rights, or tax policy or immigration, we'll have something worse than whatever we have today. So unfortunately after flirting with switching I found myself running right back into the arms of Democrats who have actually improved a lot in terms of policy under Biden. (astonishingly).

So please be careful, do not fall for the "both sides" nonsense and do not fall into the trap of being contrarian or "independent" to the point that you become blind to basic, elementary facts and morality that expose the modern GOP as the threat they now are.
