I never understood why people like Alyssa shit-talk gamers, despite working at a newsrag that supposedly caters to them. Maybe it's my autism flaring on this issue, but ever since the whole goobergrape thing, I seriously question why gaming journos are so openly belligerent against their own audience over the stupidest of reasons.
It's because some companies allow leftist nutters to run riot, and at that point it's already too late. It's like a mattress infested with bed bugs - all you can do is burn it to the ground and start over.

It's the same reason why they will openly shit-talk their bosses or past companies they've worked for online; they've never dealt with any negative consequences for their actions, cos people are largely cowards when it comes to standing up to them.

The data shows that virtually nobody cares about what game "journalists" think these days. For example, YouGov surveyed 17 different gaming markets back in July of this year and only 6% of respondents said that critic reviews influenced their game purchases, and in the US alone that number drops to just 3%. So hardly anyone is thinking "I want to see what Kotaku thinks of this game before I buy it!". But very few of these "journos" have the drive/talent/personality/will to go it alone and make a success of a YouTube channel, for example, so they're just bitter losers, stuck in a job that could end at any moment.

Alyssa herself looks like she never played a single thing before the PS3, and likely believes that women and minorities starring in video games are a literal recent phenomenom. I do believe when people say these are people who never really liked vidya in the first llace and are only using it as a springboard to higher stuff. Something that rarely, if ever, happens.

Anyway, just to conclude, the only Ron Coleman worthy of respect is the bodybuilder. YEAH BUDDY! LIGHTWEIGHT!
These are people who prior have relied on loveless sex, drugs, parties, and low class socialite drama to stave off boredom. Video games are an alien thing to them, and sadly for them they are unequipped with the means to avoid missing out. It's like a midget being taken to an amusement park and finding out that he's too short for every single ride.

Do you think Zoe Quinn and Alyssa Mercunte were manufactured from the same vat of acid?
I think they're more of the failures of college education and the college campus "political indoctrination".

Is anyone wondered why there are so many white, middleclassed people from college turn into "communism" and "antifascism", while they live their whole life in the whitest neigborhood and has almost zero black/gypsy friend? (of course it's poetic question)

Box art actually has a greater influence over a potential purchase than a game journalist.

Gaming journalism was never anything more than a hobby in the 90s but in the 2000s it started to be treated as a springboard to marketing roles at major publishers. It was a natural candidate for clickbait journalism because nobody really ever gave a shit about the gaming industry. It’s a small segment of the population of hyperautists but even in a hobby loaded with autism, very few ever wants to know how the sausage gets made and the fudge gets packed.

I think the ink from tattoos turn women into worthless whores.

Gaming Journalism used to be writing walkthrough, tutorials and in general supply the gamer with information about the game, game mechanics that are not provided by the developer as part of the manual or in-game tutorial.

I still have my original Gamestar with the walkthrough for Baldur's Gate 1, 2 and Jagged Alliance 2 somewhere. in a box in the basement. Those magazines often came with free trial or demo games on a CD, which was pretty big since at the time you were lucky to have ISDN connection and downloading just a 350 MB installer would take just about 12 hours if you had full bandwidth, which also cost a lot of money because it was the age of dial-up internet.

At that time gaming journalists were providing a customer service, and were popular because of it.
For example the 2001 MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot, which was quickly outpaced by WoW which released a year later, had a super dedicated massive fanbase (relatively speaking, for the early 2000s) in Germany because the EU Beta version was distributed via either PC Games or Gamestar (can't remember which), making it accessible with an installer from a CD (saving players ~1 day of ISDN downloads).

And the journalistic product was created by people who were gamers first and journalists second, and grew into their roles. Now they hire journalists to create content who are not only NOT gamers, they are openly hostile to gamers and thereby have lost all credibility.

What used to be journalist content, game walkthrough, gameplay, tactics/strategy, build guides etc., is now easily accessible on Youtube and every single "magazine" that did not make the switch to compete with Youtube content creators from the get go simply lost their market.

Every game now has a few go-to creators who are watched by a vast majority of players, either because of entertainment factor (livestreams) or as source for good information (guides, tutorial, etc.), and they have pretty much pushed out the journalists, relegating them to writing opinion and culture war pieces instead, because they suck at the games and cannot compete with competent players creating content.

Ron Coleman is a youtube lawyer. Perfect for lolsuits but is there any evidence he is a good lawyer?
I'm not sure if there is evidence he is an impressive lawyer by any means
Ron Coleman was one of the lawyers in Matal v. Tam, also known as the "Slants case"; in summary, Ron was representing Simon Tam, a founder/member of a rock band, who had submitted and was denied a U.S. Trademark application on THE SLANTS, the band's name, which was intended "to “reclaim” the term and drain its denigrating force as a derogatory term for Asian persons."

In the resulting victory for the band, SCOTUS held that "federal law prohibiting the registration of trademarks that may “disparage . . . or bring . . . into contemp[t] or disrepute” any “persons, living
or dead.” ... violates the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment. It offends a bedrock First Amendment principle: Speech may not be banned on the ground that it expresses ideas that offend."
Do prostitutes/porno actors get workman's comp if they get an STD while on the (blow)job?
In the eyes of they law they are independent contractors or business parties engaging in civil contracts. Independent contractors don't get workman's comp, so unless their contract specifically included some form of damages in case that situation should arise, they'd be on their own ass to get it treated.

If there was some form of fraud involved - they were given a fake "clean" STD test, for instance - and if they could prove that the other person was the source of the STD - then they would have pretty good cause to go after them. But if it was the result of neglect (they didn't check) or excusable error (the STD test hadn't picked anything up yet), they'd have a tough case if there was nothing in the contract saying otherwise.

It looks like Alyssa Mercante's followers like Nick Calandra are going after Smash JT's GoFundMe and halted it.
SmashJT says his GoFundMe has been unsuspended. In the following video he also claims that any money left over from paying for Coleman's services will be donated to a cancer centre or similar. (6:08)

Looks like he either got the same recommendation or he reads this thread and understands that not being transparent about fundraised money is a big nono and that his enemies would have gone all in on that.

I am still waiting for more videos covering Alyssa still promoting the "Trans Noose-Line" where they do not pick up the phone when suicidal troons call at inconvenient times.

You do have anti-men tattoos, Alyssa.

Retweeting her allies like Yvette Nicole Brown bitching over Brianna Wu, and Andy Cortez & Daniel Ahmad bitching about gamers complaining about wokeness.

I hope Alyssa loses this lawsuit I know nothing about Smash JT but he looks like a nice guy.

The worst I've heard and found about him is that he donated a lot of money to the Intellvision Amico and apparently talked and to a composer named Tommy Tallarico, only to be scammed. While SmashJT's clearly a content farmer who mostly come onto everyone's radars through his videos about gaming journalism and people like Alyssa, thre is virtually no active drama or controversy surrounding him that isn't fueled entirely by both SJWs and anti-anti-woke types (SJWs and some non-SJWs obsessed with heckling and a-logging people on the conservative side of the culture war). If there was something wrong with him, then Reddit, Twitter, and maybe Bluesky (If anyone actually uses it) wouldn't be the only places covering him negatively.

Smash is kinda like that group of anti-woke YouTubers that speak out about how shit game devs, publishers, and journalism are. You've seen one, you've seen them all. But he's really inoffensive and he keeps himself out of drama. Most of his spats are with leftists online. As long as he provides receipts of his donations after the lolsuit I'd say he should be generally left alone.

Anyway, Ron Coleman is an actual lawyer and an experienced one at that. Pro free speech with the mandatory Jewish heritage. Not a lolcow like Rackets and Ty Beard are. That Slants lawsuit mentioned above is a pretty damn big win considering it went to the SC.

Snopes Game Room covered that silliness. Smash took the L for that one and he eventually admitted he screwed up.
