LV is probably not lying at MD being only meant for one 8-episode long season, he's talking about the final product here, his original concept was definitely planned to be bigger, but Glitch told him "nuh-uh, 8 episodes, take it or leave it", now his entire plan just got fucked, and you can tell he failed adapting with the restriction and the result was just a mess he himself admitted he wasn't truly happy with.
But, even if he WAS given what he wanted like 2 seasons or a longer one-season run, MD would still have been shit, maybe just far less of a mess than it is, his idea of being simultaneously lore-driven, but also doing meta jokes that are completely out of place at the same time is just a fundamentally flawed concept that would never resonate with most people outside of the biggest autistic retards on the planet, not to mention he completely fails at writing compelling characters, even the 8-episode limit shouldn't hinder that.

According to a reddit AmA, the reason the premise just flipped like a switch between the pilot and season 1 is because they "found the solver plot much more interesting to work with", i get that its a pilot, but did they really not consider how that would massively confuse the audience, especially when there's such a strong level of continuity?I find this statement hard to believe. Vicker's himself admitted he couldn't fit in everything he wanted, and there is ample evidence that suggests Murder Drones has a troubled production cycle. Heck, the show even pulls a Helluva Boss by almost completely throwing out the premise set up in the pilot. Except Helluva Boss at least had a few episodes before it went full gay melodrama, and even then they're currently putting out shorts which actually follow what the pilot established.
Goose is commenting of his own accord here, he doesn't want to make people think Glitch is the reason MD was cut short and have people worried that they would do some "executive meddling" in TADC too, he put his foot down and plainly stated that he got as much creative freedom as he wanted, and that extended to MD too. That aside, I find it strange that Gooseworx of all people is commenting on Murder Drones' production. For a company that has pretensions of professionalism, you'd think they'd select someone directly involved in Murder Drones to answer questions, or at the very least, someone in management.
