Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

I'm talking about actual gamers, not weebs and paid shills

Are you under the impression that the retarded PL DLC and the 2.0 "update" actually fixed the game?

That would be crazy considering CP2077 is basically Fallout 4 with better graphics in terms of being an "RPG".

Even that is better than Starfield I suppose.

It's really astonishing that the first DLC just pulled the classic Bethesda move of fixing the game's problems by just cutting them out entirely. The ship being a total non-element for the entire DLC is insane.
people asked for more handcrafted on the ground exploration and that’s exactly what it delivers

Also this DLC is really hard to look at. What is it with modern soy faggot devs and purple?
I thought some people were being a bit hard on the look of the planet saying it looks like complete shit, but then I realize that a lot of Bethesdas pre-release pictures and footage was of the games planet *at night*

I saw someone playing during the daytime hours and my fucking god it was such a barrage of red pink and purple that it was almost impossible to see anything.

Too little too late, the entire game should have been like this. Not completely shit and cringeworthy mind you, but on-the-ground handcrafted content with choices and consequences, this little pittance was stuck too long in the oven to appease to anyone no matter what it would have contained.
That's why I mentioned Phantom Liberty, that's the kind of DLC that was needed to appease the fanbase and people who gave up on the game, not an Operation Anchorage/Automatron tier tiny little DLC. Those are the APPETIZERS to get your fanbase excited for future content.

Finally finished the DLC. I still have a couple of achievements to unlock.
Everything has been said: boring story, unlikable characters, reskinned weapons and gear (there are new types of grenades but you have to farm for the components). The boss fight was lame, especially with its infinite wave of enemies. None of the houses deserved to lead but I ended up picking House Veth'aal because we need a new jihad (can't say that word, Emil) Crusade, so FUCK Black Science Man, gay cowboy and Sarah.
Another thing that I didn't like: space magic doesn't work against the new enemies so you have to play the way Emil wanted.

So they gimped space combat and space magic for this DLC, then?
WHY was it even included in the base game, then? This is an admission that these were bad gameplay designs.
Speaking of which, was NG+ effected in any way? Brand new universes and things like that?

You can use space magic on the zealots but not the Phantoms (or whatever they're called). As long as you don't make the mistake of playing in a higher difficulty than normal, you will be fine.
The land vehicle is also useless, the map isn't built for it (hell, none of them are, it should have been a shuttle like on the Enteprise). Like I said in a previous post, if you use Amp and run & jump, you will get to your destination faster than with the dune buggy.

No idea. Nothing can justify the 12-month wait for this DLC.

I don't know, I have NG+ 4 times before the DLC and I don't intend to jump again. I'm fine where I am.
Once I have unlocked the remaining achievements, I will uninstall the game again.

I agree, there should have *at least* been a sizeable handcrafted map around each of the major cities

Even the handcrafted map feels like babbies first steps of map creation.
Nonsensical placement of things randomly on the map between the curated quest locations (which are all bland and boring).

I never finished the main story of the base game, when I saw that the dlc was out and in my library, I thought I give it a go.
Man this was such a slog to play through, according to steam it took me 6 hours to start a new game and finish the main quest of the dlc, felt like 20ish hours though.
Everyone is a diverse person, and making a space cult which worships a serpent safe and boring is truly one of Bethesda's greatest achievements. The aesthetics of the faction feels overdesigned and underwhelming at the same time. You've seen this hybrid of sci-fi and fantasy a million times.
The story was bland as hell. It's like giving your tax advisor the task to write a story about a cult in space.
There is never any mystery or intrigue. Just piss poor "oh you heretic outsider what are you doing here? Oh, you are the chosen one? Please do menial tasks for our community until we assemble the mcguffin device to shoot a blue laser and you defeat the final boss (who turns crazy literally in the last 5 minutes of the final mission)."
Feels like a side quest that the B Team worked on any other RPG, just stretched to 5 or 6 hours.

Yeah, this still pales in comparison to Skyrim or even Fallout 4 in terms of being a large map to look at and explore. It still feels randomly generated.

I'm seeing more and more videos pointing out that there are enough instances of side quests spawning enemies in locations that cause them to either get stuck or kill themselves by jumping off cliffs that the claim this was all handcrafted is really dubious.
This is a problem in GTA or Cyberpunk and other "open world" style games. You can see enemies in Oblivion or characters like the Adoring Fan that will follow you through Oblivion Gates for a quick chat. You get your wanted level up in those games and the police will spawn on top of other NPCs or spawn in areas where they are immediately trapped. They have no A.I. and just path directly to the player. And if the game doesn't allow them to clip through solid objects or walls they will get stuck permanently and sometimes even softlock a quest or the entire game.

Super old RPGs from the 90s would make it so that if your companions became stuck or stranded that they would teleport directly next to you. But no one wants enemies teleporting on top of them. So the enemies would just remain locked to a single tile or room or whatever and unable to move. And lots of those games had random dungeons or encounters as well.

Very few AAA games have top game and level design plus enemy A.I. for single player modes. Most NPCs are Oblivion or Skyrim level stupid. And Starfield is made by the same team. It's why the NPCs in most towns in RPGs never move from the same spot 24/7 because no one cares about that level of immersion. And the developers don't want to deal with the issue of an NPC leaving its post then getting lost and never returning.

Imagine telling Bethesda fans fifteen years ago that Bethesda has lost their touch and fucking Microsoft, the people behind the aids that was Games for Windows Live, needs to step up and take control over their developer. It would be inconceivable, but here we are.

I wonder if Microsoft will even do it. They paid a pretty penny for Bethesda and Starfield did not hit the mark.

I would bet there are people in Microsoft that are actually very happy with Starfield, so the idea that they are going to be the ones to tard wrangle Todd and Emil is very optimistic.

The fact Emil has made the statements he has recently makes me believe that even more.

It's the standard "toxic positivity" and failing upwards that plagues basically all Western societies now. The chosen people to be promoted cannot do anything wrong nor be criticized. Emperor's new clothes and all of that. People like Todd or Emil will never be fired or replaced because them having power is more important than actually making quality games and entertainment.

There are people in Microsoft today openly celebrating the fact that the Halo series is now on death's door. They are lauding that their in house game engine is being replaced by Unreal 5 so that street shitters and other niggers can work remotely on new Halo games for penny slave wages. They are rebranding the game studio to generic 'Halo Studio' and raising glasses of champagne. And they are toasting to each other that the Halo franchise is coming to Playstation.

These are the people in charge of Fallout and Elder Scrolls now as well.
