NOAA recon is in progress. The first pass through the eye found a minimum pressure of 932mb, a single closed eye 12 miles wide and no double wind maxima, which suggests the EWRC is complete and it is now a question of how strong Milton can get again before he feels the shear further north.

In less retarded news, Milton is almost done its eyewall replacement and might be on-track to strengthening again soon.

It's oddly hard to find video of this that I can actually share so here's a screenshot of the topography from 8 minutes ago.

It's about 500 miles away from Tampa right now so it has a lot of time to regain strength. It's also moving at about 155mph (as of 5am) which sounds fucking nuts during an eyewall replacement.

The eye is now THRICE the size it used to be, stretching for about 12 miles as opposed to the old 4, and I shudder to think what could happen if this thing regains its peak strength while expanding to cover even more ground.
