Look, I've observed gastric bypass surgeries in person, like SRS it's life-changing surgery. You have lifetime consequences from getting it done and it affects how you can eat and your bowel habits for the rest of your life. You've been literally eviscerated in a sense.Venus Angelic (former YouTube star) was able to get a gastric bypass (or similar WLS) despite being a super tiny Swiss girl. It almost killed her. That’s the closest I’ve seen to the old “we don’t give anorexics weight loss surgery just because they think they’re fat” argument coming to life. These girls dying from kidney failure and other nasty things because they’ve been convinced a useless piece of flesh will make their lives better and having that enabled with surgery is equally heinous. It does neither group any good, yet the latter is considered virtuous.
The safety profile on GI bypass is still orders of magnitude better than SRS and its effectiveness is objective and very well documented. Also many many more of them are done than SRS. The benefit is better documented. The condition being treated is more serious. Obesity, troonery, and their respective therapeutic surgeries are not the same.
