IDW's issues with being the distributor have little impact on the comic's demise. There was a con panel or interview early in the leadup to IDW Sonic's run that mentioned how SEGA could take the comic to a different company and continue it, if IDW goes under.

But that still wouldn't fix the inherant problem with the comic if they just get the same team from IDW to work on it somewhere else.

Nobody likes lanolin except for coomers who hype her up as the only other official sonic character aside from rouge to have big boobs.

She’s basically just an even bitchier Sally thst has been artificially forced into the storyline worse than Poochy. This is the main problem, everything about her inclusion is so forced. It’s not that she is in conflict with some of the other characters, it’s thst she’s a Literal Who girl-bossing like she’s been in the series for years when she has never actually accomplished anything except bitch at people.

She’s also another gripe I have with IDW in that she’s another sonic character whose only power is basically owning a gun. Which makes her nearly as useless as the puppet girl thing - which is a tough job to beat.

Ian's already been falling into penders-isms the last few years with shit like the "Oh I can't put this in the comic but these characters are totally gay and fucking" shit that reminds me of modern day penders pulling weird shit like claiming sonic got cucked by the skunk asshole.

There was a major cat-5 shithurricane regarding palestine to the point they put the flag on the banner and logo........for a game series that still mostly caters to little children.

That's just the latest moment of stupidity from them, they also put shadow with the super-gay-tranny flag colors when shadow is the kind of guy who would leave skid marks over a gay pride street.

I saw something about the sonic netflix shit where apperently Ian flynn has done a "oh it's confirmed CANON and it takes place "immediately after sonic advance 3" or something which people have pointed out makes no fucking sense because Advance 3 is a sequel to Battle, which takes place immediately after sonic heroes in the timeline. "Shadow The Hedgehog" is also the next mainline game after heroes and he doesn't get his memories back fully till the end of that game.

In the netflix show from what I've heard, Shadow isn't amnesiac like he was in the games from that timeframe. This means it would have to have taken place AFTER Shadow. This is the kind of bullshit that's mildly driven me nuts since I was a kid when penders pulled stupid/insane shit like having station square somehow INSIDE angel island despite the fact angel island FALLS NEXT TO STATION SQUARE.

Coomer art seems to be the only thing I ever encounter the IDW characters in online outside out of context comic panels. Save for like the green one with a kinda ok design that's some original the character who solely exists because they couldn't use the green sonic from archie. She became like torture victim or some shit I don'tknow going off secondhand accounts here. Most stuff I've seen of that character is just stuff making fun of them for being a edgelord loser or something.

Surge, and that's roughly correct. She and her partner Kit (the blue fox thing), were transformed into cyborgs and brainwashed by Starline. His plan was to replace Sonic and Tails with them and Eggman with himself. I don't blame you for not keeping up with this. The whole plot was introduced in a 4 issue miniseries and essentially resolved in issue 50, so it didn't really matter much in the long run. Now the main plot hook with her and Kit is that they're now trying to figure out who they were before Starline brainwashed them. That's why they were working for Clutch the opposum who replaces Starline as "nobody antagonist who isn't Eggman."

She also has occasional mental breakdowns which is nice.
 
I don't mean to start an autistic comics vs manga fight here but that surge backstory shit being hidden behind a miniseries always rubbed me the wrong way and reminded me why I really do not like western comics too much

not only are you waiting an entire month for something to happen(and with IDW it's not even worth it) but also important backstory, plot points, and context are in entirely separate issues instead of just being in the main run
meanwhile with most manga, want the context or backstory? just keep reading, it will get there eventually
