I'm happy to be corrected by the many more learned in the thread, but the book seems to be inline with mainstream High-Church Anglican dogma of the 19th century (including the horribly obtuse writing style).

The comparison with pagan religion appears to be focused on trying to identify the vestigial remnants of true "Natural Religion", rather than trying to form any kind of syntheses. The book appears to fundamentally be rationalizing apologia for discrepancies in the Bible. References to non-old testament or Talmudic pagan works appear to be very rare. Maybe there's some heresy in there, but it's not front and center.

Addicts and alcoholics in recovery know accountability for their actions while drunk or high is an integral part of their recovery. Those who continually relapse or just go back out and die or end up in prison are almost always those who refuse to own that which belongs to them, who can't or won't face the truth about themselves. That's why I'm doubtful Rekieta will ever attain any meaningful, non-court-enforced sobriety, assuming he has chosen to try. Some don't. Some choose to keep going.

Not once during this Rekieta shitshow has the man simply said, "I fucked up. I hurt my family. I shamed myself. I'm going to try harder at getting better." Not once.
