New edicts handed down this week for girls in the Gerrer sex cult:
1. You cannot discuss details about getting engaged (where you met, what you talked about, etc) with anyone, including siblings,
2. You can never discuss details of anyone else's engagement, even if the couple have been married for many years.
3. You cannot tell your friends you are engaged before the lechaim (celebratory toast).
4. While engaged, you can have no contact whatsoever with the boy, neither by telephone nor through an intermediary.
5. The boy's future father-in-law cannot pass any messages from her to him.
6. You cannot show his picture to your friends.
7. You cannot show wedding photographs of the couple (which are strongly discouraged) to anyone.
8. It is permitted (but discouraged) to say the groom received an apple from the Rebbe.
9. No mentioning the boy's birthday to your friends, or celebrating it in any way.
10. It is absolutely forbidden to say that "I was also recommended this person as a match."
11. You can not discuss anything about a suggested match that did not pan out. The most you can say is that you turned down the offer, but this is discouraged.
12. When asked to comment on a friend's suitability for a match, say only positive things.
13. You cannot tell sais friend you were asked about her.
14. You cannot say anything about your parents' habits.
15. This includes discussions with your husband after the wedding. This is as sinful as eating on Yom Kippur.
16. If you violate any of the rules, you must inform your assigned spiritual guide from high school or wherever else.
17. It is important to consult with them even after marriage.
18. Distance yourself from any friends who could be a negative influence.
