I still don't understand what he was expecting. Why would he get high on multiple substances during a stream? As an alcoholic, I get the urge to take a shot or sip at the start of a shift (or in this case his stream), as a reward, or even in the middle of your hours to get through the day. But this guy abused substances so much that he probably built up a resistance. From my experience, you don't get the happy high after getting drunk daily; you just end up with the side effects of being a stumbling, mumbling mess. He was likely trying to scratch the itch of getting that high you would get if you stopped for a week and a half, but instead of waiting a dozen days, he just drank himself into a cokehead stupor.

There are so many ways in which you can ask "why" like a bunch of people in this thread but it's a genuine question that even my wetbrained brain can't wrap itself around.

Which, while offensively near to the base amount for someone earning 12x that, is also in no way, shape, or form adequate to raise 5 children solo, even in Spicer, mn.

It's absurd even for moderate incomes - if a family of 7 lives on $100k/year, that's about $14285 per person per year, or $1190 per person per month. By the support calculator, post-divorce, a non-custodial support-paying parent making $100k/year would have $64k for themselves, or about $5333/month (less the fake $2500 insurance, which it wouldn’t be bc even a married $100k/year parent of 5 would be eligible for significant subsidies but I was trying to worst-case it), and the other 6 would have about 36k* together or $500/month per person.

* Payer would actually net less after taxes, whereas recipient would not be taxed, so the net compare is a bit different than those numbers, but covered below.

Obviously exponentially more egregious for higher incomes of paying spouses. At $100k/month, that’s <$40k to 100% custodial ex-spouse, and $1,160,000 to paying spouse. Yes, a judge would reject that on equity grounds but not necessarily by a proportional amount.

But yeah, it not a fair comparison bc the reality is that the $0 earning spouse with 100% full kid custody getting $36k/year child support would also qualify for Medicaid and other state support for all of them, which should free up some mo- . ...NOPE. Putting custodial nonearning spouse on Medical Assistance (which means kids on ma/Medicaid) increased the support amount $80 whole dollars/month and the rest of that 2500 I plugged in for expensive insurance just goes back in the support-paying/0 custody/ 0 responsibility spouse's pocket. Nice.

BTW in Spicer, if you are under income thresholds you can get an 1100-1200 SF 3 bedroom apartment for just $1317-1382/month (est $100/mo basic utilities). $36000 is well under threshold for 6, so ok. Good reviews except by people salty you can only have 2 pets or that you have to be low income. There's 1 available.

6 people in 1200 SF and doubled up in bedrooms would leave all of $1700 for food (above the (typically generous, tbf) ebt benefit amounts), clothes, transport, and basic needs.

Meanwhile paying spouse has $5333/mo gross, which pays the mortgage on a currently-for-sale murder bathroom house and leaves $3k for other expenses/spending. About $1000 for tax on income (just assuming standard deduction, single filer, 5 dependents), so $2000 for one person...more than the other person has to spend on 6. But OK, paying spouse should not be buying a $425k house, but it was funny...to me, anyway.
