Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

(No idea if this is true or not.)
Among the things Peacock said during the exchange were “I’m riding a bike, I have more rights than you.” He also told the driver that he would have him put in jail.
[...]
Gary Peacock ORDERED the cop to cite the driver. And guess what! The cop DID AS HE WAS TOLD! A law enforcement officer literally TOOK ORDERS FROM A CALIFORNIA MILLIONAIRE!

Also, know what isn't between Barcelona and Paris in a straight line? The fuckin' Appalachians
The Pyrenees also exist, the real reason it could be built is because the French are actually very good at making HSR networks and work on a lot of them to keep the knowledge base intact whereas the US has neither the knowledge base nor the desire to develop it.

As I recall California tried to hire a French company to do their HSR boondoggle and the company told them to fuck off.

Ok, I was close.
In 2022, the New York Times noted SNCF, the French railroad company, at first tried to get a contract with California to assist with the project, but pulled out in 2011, saying “they were leaving for North Africa, which was less politically dysfunctional.” SNCF had Morocco's bullet train operating in 2018, just seven years later.

I was just at a city council meeting (population 35) and someone suggested mass transit - a monorail! And everyone was all in favor until a small child said “but where would I park my toys? It’s not on my mat!” And everyone started crying and the monorail was voted down and they crucified the guy who proposed it.

Then we all ordered F250s and drank a gallon of gas.

Well I was walking down the street
just a-having a think
When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink.
He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise.
He had a pickup truck, and the devil's eyes.
He stared at me and I felt a change.
Time meant nothing, never would again.

I like how they assume that the answer is "more trains" and not coming to "incorrect" conclusions about the ideal racial makeup of a country.
The more trains argument is actually correct just not in the way they think it is. We need more trains to round up all the niggers drop them off at the Ports and ship them back to Africa.
The car propaganda is hilarious because as a child I was really big into Thomas the Tank Engine. This did not brainwash me into becoming an Urbanist Faggot though.

urban fags can rejoice, because supposedly houston is getting a bullet train rail to dallas. Thats pretty cool, I can see my niggas in dallas for decently cheap when its finally built. (it will be destroyed by a hurricane)
They're not because Texas Central is incompetent and has no money (they're so broke that they're being sued by counties along the route for nonpayment of property taxes). Amtrak (i.e. the feds) may try to build it, but there's no state support and if Trump wins there will be no federal support. American rail advocates don't seem to realize that California's boondoggle has made HSR a laughingstock in the rest of the country.

A better solution would be to widen I-45 from two to three lanes, which would be far cheaper and doesn't require eminent domain. Luckily, TxDOT is already planning on doing that and unlike Texas Central, they can build their project without any money from non-drivers/riders (TxDOT's budget comes from gas taxes, oil refining taxes, vehicle registration fees, sales taxes on cars, tolls, and the federal Highway Trust Fund (which is funded by gas taxes)).

well damn, I knew it was never gonna happen, still sucks though. I've been countryside alot, so I would've loved to try a bullet train

It's amazing how they continue to fuck up over and over again. Before a bullet train, why not try a train and see if there's even any demand?

Of course, they can't even do that right; California has tons of active rail riders between LA and San Diego so that is ... the last part planned for a high-speed segment.

Just fly to Japan and try the Shinkansen. As a tourist you get a special rate as long as you buy the rail pass before entering the country.

For the Japanese however, the train costs more than flying if one books in advance:

If you book a trip tomorrow, they cost the same.

fucking pozzed shitfuckers

hilarious, tho

(the amount of carbon is the exact same either way, because the flight and the train will run without you)
"CoNsiDer TakIng ThE TrAIn It's GrEeEeEeN BecaUSE it's On ELeCtrICIrt wOoOoOow"
Where the electricity for said train comes from:

(So the carbon is the same either way, electric trains are greenwashing anyway, same issue as electric vehicles)
