It's most likely just a passing-by person seeing the earlier, original submission as dead (without possibility of being recovered) and reposting it, I don't believe any of the authors would so easily expose themselves when pseudo-anonymous orange-website accounts are in no short supply. Or perhaps the reposter saw the "call to action" from the authors' mastodon post here (archive) to help overcome "reactionary bias". The first post on this subject came from an account created 7 days ago (archive), aptly named "stallman_report", likely to have been made in advance, maybe to avoid being buried too easily by the ranking algorithm. I can't seem to find a good website collecting statistics from the website, and there aren't snapshots of the "newest" page available yet, but I would argue there must've been some small organized effort to upvote it inorganically, which also results in entries being downranked when detected. More successful on the other contrarian, invite-only link aggregator where it's firmly on top. More often than not this sort of outrage incitement needs to become self-sustaining before fizzling out from legitimate disinterest, putting it in front of everyone's face as quickly as possible is necessary unless they are content with only using it as an external reference in some more of their uncalled for ramblings about RMS on Mastodon or their personal blogs. It's safe to assume the authors of this report are the same that pushed for the first "open letter" and have been very vocal about the man ever since, as he tends to live in their minds constantly.. very evident with a well-known tough guy and open source bully in particular.

I was one of the people organizing the counter-letter supporting Stallman in 2021. Not likely to do it again. His role has diminished to a level where seeing him attacked in public by a bunch of corporate suits is like watching an elderly grandpa getting beaten up by teenage thugs in the middle of a park. Personally I remember looking into the last accusations around him supposedly defending one of epstein's clients. It amounted to "if these girls were forced into prostitution by epstein then when they were offered to people they probably wouldn't say they were being forced into it (on pain of punishment from epstein), so the clients wouldn't know they were unwilling". He has also changed his mind on this before it was dug up and the circus started. You might not believe he actually changed his mind (who does, really?) and you might also say "well, that's a distinction without a difference". But that kind of extremely precise nit picking and actual self-reflection is the kind of autism that founds the FSF and is the reason the software world today is not a complete hellscape.

What baffles me is that you seem to realize this is a smear job and that the previous shitshow was a smear job then just believe what they have to say anyway. While you post on a fourm that has had its software license revoked. A fourm which has a similar "tattered reputation". And if you were known as a user of this forum then in many places people would pick over your post history to try and rip you apart.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Richard Stallman views the concept of consent in an autistic, hyper-logical way. When most people say that a 14 year old (or whatever) can't consent to sex, it's implied to mean that a 14 year old can't REASONABLY consent. They lack the necessary life experience, physical brain development, etc. Stallman doesn't understand that implication. He believes you're saying that a 14 year old physically cannot say no when propositioned for sex. If you spelled it out for him, he'd more than likely agree with something not that far from a mainstream view.

I talked with Stallman before and on more than one occasion. He's an incredibly odd and literal but bright man. I know this is "just trust me bro" caliber, but I do not believe he's some kind of malicious sex pest. He's just autistic and sees these things from an angle where he literally doesn't understand why they are bad or how they would cause harm by actual, existing people in actual, existing situations. He doesn't understand grey areas. I am not sure he's capable of normal relationships to other people in a way we know them. That said, I think he has a long-term partner or at least had at some point.

Stallman failed, and it is sad although in hindsight it was predictable. I think in the end, he just held people to too binary, unrealistic standards they could never possibly live up to. There's an argument to be made that what he preached was an unattainable ideal to begin with, opportunistic monkeys we are. When you are a lone or small developer who happened to write a valuable piece of software, it makes sense to keep it completely proprietary and under seal and lock, otherwise others or even big corporations will just flat out steal it (they won't only steal it, they'll use lawyers to twist your words to a point where they will claim you stole it from them to begin with) and a license will *not* stop them (just ask the chinese about their constant raping of the linux kernel for internet-of-shit devices and how the license of the kernel stopped them from releasing binary blobs with no source). Then because you made your work proprietary, you grow a big corporation and do this to hapless others because you (and the people around you) just always gotta have more. That's the human condition Stallman does not understand.

He's an MIT AI Lab original, from a time when programmers were actually interested in computer science. Those have become rare and there's no replacing them.

There are of course better arguments including that it increases demand for content that includes harming animals which I am sure he would consider if they were brought up.

The main player class seems to only support getters and setters for a name. The unhuman-like comments for stubs that are self described are indicative of ChatGPT code.
