Barbie Digital Makeover (1999)! I recognize the red edited lips from the game!

Barbie Digital Makeover was a bit like modern makeup/facetuning photo apps, like, you can upload a photo and apply makeup, change hair, smooth skin, etc. But like, everything always came out uncanny valley/paper doll looking/Angela Anaconda-y. Pretty sure the game also synced with the Barbie Magic Hair Styler game (1997?). The hairstyler game let you edit outfits/clothes.
Interesting. There does seem to be some similarity.

Some new wisdom for us all.

Prolly reading too much here but blue quote really feels dedicated to Reddit. This niggerfaggot wants to pretend he is the bigger man for once.
Oh wow, what a spooky thread to discover just in time for Halloween! 💀🍬🍂

On the topic of Smartschoolboy9's skin issues - perhaps he suffers from a condition or disease that causes severe photosensitivity? The white paste on his face could be a thick layer of Zinc Oxide (i.e. the white stripe stereotypically seen smeared on lifeguards noses/cheeks in cartoons & movies).

EDIT:

I see it now. Makes it very funny how Reddit was saying he used AI to create CP.

I'm not completely convinced he uses this.

The similarities are only really noticeable if you see the program "making over" human faces (girl in this screenshot is from the commercial):

1728947911008.png

Unrelated but this program is kinda cool for 1999 and has some groovy music. 100/10 game.

Mattel's Barbie games from the late 90's/early 2000's were surprisingly well made. The Barbie: Detectives games in particular, were fantastic. They had gameplay very similar to cult classic point and click Harvester, of all things.

Might have to make an off topic thread in the Beauty Parlor about Barbie games since that sounds fascinating.
Appreciate bringing up making over human faces in the program. Forgot I had seen that last night while looking it up.

Well there’s a way to find out if it is that program

Don’t know if it will work on modern computers because mine is kaput, anyone want to give it a whirl?
Ok, so I loaded it onto my computer and got it to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to upload photos to it.

For anyone else trying to run it - when launching the game, make sure you rightclick and set it to run as a Windows 98/Me program.

Here’s a copy of the manual for help.
Looks like it creates a folder called My Photos you put your images into so the program can find them. Then use the import option to select them. Images have to be bmp or jpg
Importing a Digital Image for a Makeover
Import your digital photograph into your computer using the following:
An image saved on a floppy disk or CD-ROM (not included.)
An image taken with a digital camera (note: For Instructions on instantly uploading
images taken with the Barbie(R) Digital Camera, please read the section "Using Images
from the Barbie(R) Digital Camera").
A scanner (not included) to scan a photograph, or image from other sources.
To get the best results, use images of 24-bit color and 256 by 256 pixels.
Make sure that your digital images are saved as Bitmap (.bmp or .BMP) or JPEG (.jpg
or .JPG) files. Important: You will not be able to use your digital image in the program if you import photos that are not in one of these file formats.
Simply drag or copy and paste your digital photo into the 'My Photos' folder installed
on your desktop. You can also find this in: Program Files/Mattel Media/Barbie Digital
Makeover/ Photos/Export, or in another directory that you created during installation of
the program.
Click the Import button directly underneath the center mirror on the Mirrors Screen. If
no head model is in the mirror, this button will take you to the Image Gallery to select a photo to create a custom model.
In the Image Gallery you will see photos you've added to the 'My Photos' folder.
Click the one you want to use and click the check mark (Done button).
You will be taken to the Import Screen where you can size your photo, and adjust
position and coloring to create a Custom Head Model. Once you're satisfied with your
model, be sure to save it to the Model Gallery by clicking the Save icon. Then click the
Mirror icon to return to the Mirrors Screen.
From the Mirrors Screen, click on any makeup kit to go to the Kit Gallery and choose
any kit or make your own makeup!
Click the Makeover button to go to the Makeover Studio and begin your makeover!

Image & Photography Tips
To create a great photo image of you or a friend for a makeover, keep in mind the following tips:
Pull your hair back, away from your face.
 Keep your face forward.
Keep your chin straight and lips closed.
Smile slightly, without showing your teeth.
Take a close up picture, filling the photo frame with your face.

Uploading Pictures from the
Barbie(R) Digital Camera
To upload photos taken with your Barbie(R) Digital Camera (not included) attach the camera to the computer and click the Barbie(R) Digital Camera icon on the Import screen. If you take pictures while the camera is attached to the computer, the photos will automatically be displayed in a frame on the page. If you leave the screen without saving the photos, they will be deleted.
To save your image and play with it in the Barbie(R) Digital Makeover program, follow these steps:
1. Click on the photo you want, then click the green Save Folder button with the pink
arrow. Click "Yes" when asked to save your selected photos. You will be asked if you
want to save the selected photos. If you click "No", ALL of your photos will be saved
to the Scrapbook.
2. To delete a photo, select the image, then click the Trash Can.
3. Export your photos into the 'My Photos' folder by clicking the Export icon. When the
dialogue box appears, click on .bmp or .jpeg and the photo will appear in the 'My
Photos' folder.
4. Click the CD-ROM Icon to return to the game.
5. Follow the instructions in the 'Importing your Digital Image' section to continue.

Locations in Victoria "Stephanie" claims to have visited.
Late, but for posterity, I found the last Australian location. I couldn't for the life of me before, but it came up yesterday when I had another look.

33C Anslow Street, Woodend, Victoria (archive is not working for me today, apologies).

The house is not far from a train station, much like the other two locations identified. Very interesting how deeply his characters adventures seem to be thought out. I still highly doubt he travelled to Australia, but he certainly put in some effort coming up with Stefanie's shenanigans.

I found the last Australian location.
Amazing work! If that's not too much to ask, can you please describe your process? How does one even begin to find something like that? I'm good with textual stuff because it is easy to lookup on search engines and elsewhere. But how do you locate the needle the size of a house on a haystack the size of a continent?

Haha, this one was a complete fluke on my end. I just reverse imaged searched it and looked carefully for key features (brick garage, front door to the left, etc.). We are all slaves to the reverse image search, however. You have to be particular with what areas you select. TinEye is very useful too. It helps knowing the general location, and some of the architectural features. This time, I was just blessed, there are other people who who you'd be better off asking than me unfortunately.

We have another boot story featuring David's child actor friend. Riveting. Enthralling. You will love it, promise!

There are some pretty interesting details in there - speaking in different accents, farmers markets, Brixton riots... quite the journey.

Is almost impressive how he just keeps recycling the same acquaintance, with roughly the same details, to explain something.
This is the first time "she" wasn't performing a wartime role, has to be the first time she isn't been creeped on, the first time someone else interacts with them, has to be the first time it isn't set in a specific date, the first time he teases a name.
Otherwise is the same shit.

Great job!
Agree it's strange they are all in close proximity to train stations. I reckon he finds these via real estate websites - both the one you found and the one in Melbourne have been listed in recent times

  • Agree
Reactions: Secondhand Giggle
It's not the barbie software, it's picsart. He has an account there and the editing tools on that site can be used to very accurately recreate his look.

It is 100% picsart. The latest stefanie post confirms the use of AI upscaler btw, that's why the low-res uniform looks all garbled and fucked up while the face doesn't. he's pasted a higher res edited face over the real image and it's proportionally upscaled.

I've used the Highlight feature and checked to see if this was already mentioned and I haven't seen it so apologies if this was already re-posted but. Doxbin has doxed smartschoolboy9 on September 16th 2024, I'm not going to private it because fuck this pedophile.

That's mostly a fail dox, I say mostly because the phone numbers listed seem to be real, as they lead to what sounds like his voicemail.

SSB9 has been identified as David W. Stansfield thanks to a Kiwi visiting the Lambeth Archives and checking who lived at Flat 88 of Kerrin Point in the timeframe David claimed to do so.

There is an OP rewrite in PG that includes new information. I don't know when it'll be moved here though.

I think my jpg & bmp files are being saved at a too high resolution for the Barbie game to read. Gonna try to run it on a retrogaming PC and see if I have better luck.
