Retsupurae used to be one of my favorite Youtube channels back in the early to mid 2010s, a shame how they fizzled out and what became of them. I find it understandable why they shied away from the Lets Play riffing (especially when the source for new material really dried up), but I thought their best content was their Wrongpuraes like King's Quest and Dark Seed anyway, which they could have kept going with (but given how Slowbeef and co been over the past many years, it probably would have gone way downhill anyway, it already was declining in its last few years).

Yeah it's sad to revist the channel and see that the latest video is from 2018. Just as well, Slowbeef started having unfunny womz on the videos instead of Diabetus, because the latter couldn't find the time to record as often.

From the tail end of their catalogue, I can recommend this wrongpurae:

I watched every single one of their uploads from the start of the channel up until it started dying off around 2016 and I still think some of their videos were underrated comedy gold. They were a hilarious duo and whether they were making fun of an autistic kid trying to play Sonic the Hedgehog and record it with a camcorder or bullying Mike Dawson as he tried to throw rings at the carnival in Darkseed 2 the videos were genuinely very funny. It's truly a shame how far Slowbeef fell off.

Diabeetus really carried the duo and it wasn't that obvious to me until he left. He stills streams occasionally, and when he does he gets more viewers than SB and tends to continue the tradition of playing funny retro junk. Seems like a nice guy. Wish I could say the same for many of his peers from the SA LP scene.

Slowbeef's videos where it's just him are unbearable. He absolutely needs someone else in the video. Even the later retsupurae videos where diabetus is replaced with some retards who eventually became trannies are ok. The videos he did with diabetus a few years ago (resident evil 5 coop etc.) are actually pretty good, way better than his regular stuff these days. He just has no ability to be entertaining on his own.

Bloober did it because they're horny for Silent Hill 2. Konami did it because it's the most popular one, and big corporations only remake games they know people already liked.

I would kill for a 4 remake. It had some of the scariest visuals and the worst gameplay.

It's because SA goons are allergic to success and trying to be successful was literally frowned upon.

So he never really built an audience - he just took the Lowtax approach of "I'm the guy who 'invented' something - so money will just come to me" even though he quite literally didn't invent anything. Streaming and Youtube have evolved to a point where "ironically bad and low effort" streams aren't a thing that people care about (much like the mirror of SA being "ironically bad and low effort" posting being not very funny).

I defy you to watch the opening of his most recent stream (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2276329171). If you don't want to - it's literally a 0 setup start. He's starts out streaming Yakuza Mahjong with no audio for 6 minutes because apparently being prepared is for tryhard losers and it takes that long for anyone to even bother to chat. I've watch 3 viewer streams with a more active chat. He finally loads the "correct" game and it's clear the audio isn't balanced all that well because you can hear the very loud clicking and clacking of his keyboard on every action he does. Audio filtering is apparently for nerds and tryhards.

As a person he isn't very interesting either - he's just a guy who's entire personality seems to be SA and "I invented LPs".

I think TB was the one that has a single post and they all just shit on him immediately so he just left, again bizarre they claim to be the accepting ones when they alienate everyone. This happened to proton jon as well many others (Im not gonna pretend to know names of people I never watched)

4 has a super interesting story locked behind gameplay that's a slog even for a Japanese survival horror game. The repetition as well as the retarded companion AI is just a killer though.

I don't mind the janky gameplay as Henry (I like the charge mechanic) and could put up with retreading the entire game again but in reverse and with spooky super ghosts but fuck does Eileen really drag it down.

Art department definitely had a blast designing the world and enemies though. I'd just stare at the environments wondering wtf I'm looking at sometimes.

Speaks volumes about all the later titles when the weakest of the original series has worlds more creativity than a goofy ass box head in Origins or Downpours common enemies being members of Slipknot with their dopey smiles and a killer on loan from Clock Tower 3 to act as the games stalker monster.

Or worse, be double helix and use the movies as the source of inspiration for environments, then drag Pyramid Head back but with the film design. At least Homecomings vocal songs hit hard.

This is really sad, I skipped around and most of the time he is just muttering to himself. And most of his chat is just his mod replying to his every word, a bad sign for a stream when all you see is swords talking.

I don't think so, no, ZapDramatic apparently fell off the face of the earth and according to the comments on the videos, his last posts were about him losing touch with humanity and gradually moving to the forest. I'm not sure if he's even alive desu
