While this code is fucking horrific, at least you can kinda see what he tried to do here (which is not using a localization library). I can't even imagine what his code would look like if he were to learn what OOP is. All you need is to parse JSON and serialize it, which looks like GameMaker can do pretty easily.

I'm pretty sure we all agree that Jason's h4xxing skills are somewhere on the level of the actor who plays "HACK THE PLANET" guy from Hackers, but I've still underestimated how retarded Mald is. For whatever reason GameMaker doesn't seem to handle localization by itself, but the "consensus" (aka "all the tutorials") seems to be to "manually replace every string with an ID and put the {ID,string} map in an INI/JSON". That's still really janky, but much better. Of course, Mald could've easily improved on this by spending a day (or 8 years) writing a simple preprocessor (according to him he used to work as a Python develper at AGS, after all) to generate the map directly from source files without having to do all the bullshit manually, but for some reason he chose to do the most retarded thing possible.

That's my overall suspicion but his excuses are what bother me.
Quite weird he choose to install GM through steam. Though there is no way of telling how much of that is idle time.

His alternating responses of "I work it on daily" and "Actually I never had proper time to work on it " are the weasel behaviors that I'm pointing out.
It's weird to have so many consecutive excuses instead of being upfront about progress. Every month he stalls is a detriment to his credibility.
His diehard fans will cope but the average gamer is already skeptical of EA games.
His other games are just resume padding.

Pretty sure he has his own editor, maybe even 2 working on his non stream content. Cause I remember him talking about hiring the guy who has been clipping his stuff on the guy's channel to make it his instead, for something longer than shorts. At that point he has already been putting out shorts and I thought that was someone else clipping the shorts for him.

Mald likes games that let him roleplay being a hacker. Not sure what his "20+ years" of experience has to do with this review but I'm very glad he mentioned it regardless.

He apparently only has 24 out of 31 achievements for his own game, despite having over 2500 hours of playtime. I guess he just leaves it running for some reason.


His wishlist is public, and he really seems to like the idea of playing video games about software/game development. Very strange, considering how he avoids his game dev related obligations in real life.


The comment section on his profile consists of no fewer than 87 pages of dick suckers. I too wish Mald would sign my steam.


His friends list contains the largest number of furries and anime avatars I have seen in one place in a very long time, possibly ever.

If anyone wants to sign in they can check his 444 game long steam library and see what the world's foremost if else user does when he's not drawing things in MS paint or pushing small animals to suicide.
