I’d say less too busy and more they just don’t know how to do online content effectively. I’ve noticed this for years. And that’s because for the longest time putting stuff up online for teachers was an afterthought. They are about 5-10 years behind. Which alliws people like Thor to gobble everyone up.

This ties into my point about the amount of time and effort spent. Guys like myself who enjoy teaching don't have the time, energy, nor desire to whore ourselves out online like these guys whose entire careers are centered around their name alone. Plus, there is the watch-time incentive on youtube which penalizes creating high-effort video content. Thanks to marketers and the psychologists on their payroll, organic methods of garnering mass attention are effectively useless 99.999999% of the time. You either have to be the whore yourself or pay some slimy guy with a sizable nose to.

The best I can hope for without such a huge time/financial investment is that others will eventually stumble upon my writings and get some use out of them.

But their police do get extra liberties we try to curtail; I've mostly seen this happen when gaijin start doing retarded shit, but the cops can grab and hold you for like, up to a month, and it can all go away if you just confess. Sometimes you fucked up, sometimes you didn't, but they can hold you and not a damn thing anyone can do; and if you think cool just sweat a month, they can hold you longer and just say it's a different but close enough charge. I imagine it's a lot scarier for foreigners who are visiting or worry about their visa status.

My only real problem with the Japanese justice system is the truth isn't an absolute defense and they still have shades of honor crime; if you say something that can harm another person's reputation, no matter how true it is, you can be held liable for defaming them. You can scream about how true it is and maybe it was even found to be true, you still broke the law by damaging their reputation.

No system is perfect, but we can try to get close.
