It's even weirder when you add that he defended the DOAX3 censorship and looked down on it in general. But then again, his Other M defense was before he completely lost his mind I believe.

I think that's the point where he would reject everything he said while trying to excuse Miyamoto, and by extension Nintendo for it.

He's the type of person who would defend the rumor of Miyamoto never learning that Mario games had a plot until post-Galaxy and then effectively raging the rest of the company into turning Paper Mario into sticker trash because 'better', and he would come up with all sorts of excuses for why Miyamoto is not wrong at all, even though it's fact that Sticker Star and Color Splash are less popular than even Super Paper Mario.

I mean, he practically does that in his book when he says that Yoshi's Island gave him PTSD from realizing that Nintendo 'didn't care about Mario's backstory as much as (I) did'.

Because it went against his favorite cartoons.

It honestly amazes me the people who lambasted Trump for saying he'd "keep us in suspense" regarding his reaction to election results are the exact same people who absolutely refuse to accept he won the election.

Bob is stuck in the late 90s and sees Nintendo as the "last bastion" in video games against the evil soulless corporations like Sony and Microsoft coming into the scene who want to bleed it dry. It would explain why he refers to them as "the pretenders"

Of course, that was 20 fucking years ago. Nowadays PlayStation and Xbox are household names, have competed with Nintendo longer than any other franchise and are old enough that people in their 20s can nostalgia over them from when they were kids.

He's also totally oblivious to pc gaming in any period. It wouldn't suprise me if he was ignorant of mobile, arcade, sega, failed systems, the pre nintendo and non mainstreme either. It's a genuine mystery as to why he's a game critic in any context.

I know what each of those things are individually but for some reason my brain cant comprehend what a "forced virtue-signal jab" would be.
