We have a ham radio thread here on KF if you want to learn more with out derailing here.
Some of the funniest SSTV images I've ever seen were sent by pirates in the bands around 6950.

Some boomer forums I like:

Name: Garage Journal
Topic: Extreme tool autism and general tool hoarding
Activity: Moderate/High
Quality: High

Name: Bob Is The Oil Guy
Topic: Petroleum, Lubricants and Machinery Autism, and other assorted chemical engineering topics
Activity: Moderate
Quality: Very High

Name: Grassroots Motorsports
Topic: Retards with cars
Activity: Moderate
Quality: Variable, but usually moderate

Name: EEVBlog Forums
Topic: Electrical Engineering, EE Tools, some metrology, oscilloscope hoarding
Activity: Moderate
Quality: High

Name: The Hobby Machinist
Topic: Philistine Machinists and their toys
Activity: Moderate
Quality: At least moderate

Boomers, thank fuck for once, still seem to use forums a lot and haven't totally migrated to Shitbook or Reddit, and thus keep these sorts of goldmines alive.

Name: Teacher Misconduct Project
Topic: Teachers' Sexual Misconduct
Activity level: Low
Quality level: Low to Moderate

Most if not all posts are copy-pastes from articles about a (ex-)teacher's arrest. Some pages have their doxes or other photos of them from their social media.

It seems only the owner and his RSS robot posts there.

Spacebattles is better than KF because you get to read about Starfleet meeting the Pegasus, while on KF all you get to read about are terminally-online schizos getting outed as sex pests and /pol/fags whining about how nothing is worthwhile ever because da JOOS, da INDIANS, da GAYS, da TROONZ, and da WIMMINZ. The main reason I still use this site is because it's fun baiting the seriousposters here and there are occasionally good off-topic discussions geg

Name: 68k MLA
Topic: Vintage Macintosh, mostly the 68k-based ones, with small subforums for other types of vintage Apple computers
Activity: Low
Quality: High

Off-topic posting is generally not allowed, and political discussion is very taboo.

There’s other vintage computer forums for basically every niche but I’m posting this one because it’s got a bit of an odd name imo that someone looking for an Apple/Macintosh forum might pass over.

My immediate thoughts as well. For all the shit that "boomers" get, who in reality are mostly elder Gen Xers now, many of them were early adopters of technology and are competent with Web 1.0 style forums, and run and maintain them with an active userbase to this day. Along with the ones you mentioned, other similar ones like:

Yellow Bullet Forums - Similar to GRM above with userbase and wide discussion, usually about older muscle cars.

Budget Light Forums - Surprisingly active and high quality forum for all things in illumination. If you want to gget involved in a multi-page sperg fest over which flashlight will throw more light, or debate the finer points of the difference between the 3157 vs the 3357 taillight bulb, or need to ask an ancient user about the exact metal composition of the filament on the light bulbs used in a Maglite from 1973, you could probably find it here. Sometimes has forum exclusive sales on flashlights and stuff if that's your thing.

Candlepower Forums - Almost direct copypasta from BLF above. Some user crossover, maybe a but less activity, and less commercial advertisement. Similar vibe.

Kerbal Space Program Forums - Autistic forum full of autists about an autistic space RPG game. This and it's stillborn sequel have a somewhat surprisingly active userbase. Warning for high weeb/troon ratio though.

Delphi Forums - Literally the oldest online forum as we know it, and continuously active since the early 80's. Many different communities and topics, basically Reddit before Reddit.

The drama between Sinseer and Lorespade on there was quite funny.
You reminded me of something in a roundabout way that I almost forgot existed. User rivalries that would span across multiple forums. With modern social media, and the tendency of everyone either self-doxxxxxxxxxxxxing or going completely D.B. Cooper level opsec, you just don't see that kind of internet-spanning drama anymore.
