I've found that many journalists and researchers when looking into these subjects often get it totally wrong and end up mischaracterizing a bunch of things. You'd think people whose actual JOB it is to research and find truth in certain subjects would be good at doing just that but nope.one of those literally disbanded in 2019 and the other one was nothing more than a telegram group making fun of James Mason in the book siege if you legitimately think that was a real group uh you're probably one of those ******** anti extremist researchers other than that good opening post
The problem (imo) is that journalists tend to tackle these things with some outside angle, often implicitly, (whether that be capitalism, 'right-wing extremism', racism, inequality, etc) that doesn't really have anything to do with the subject. That's even ignoring whether those things are correct in the first place. In any case it really shouldn't play a role in the work of journalists and etc.
