I actually support the laws in question as a concept, basically requiring ID to access the sites. The problem is most of the states don't have any good rule in place to help with the verification

The way I'd want it to be handled would be for IDs to have both a card number and security pin, and you would give the sites the ID# and pin and they'd just get a pass/fail without getting any info about you from a centralized or state level database. Have it work for alcohol, tobacco, Sudafed, porn, etc

These laws are a stepping stone to an ID requirement to use the Internet with all usage tied to your name. Porn can in fact be posted on any site, so any site with user-generated content must require verification to access. An even worse problem than porn is "racially-motivated violent extremism" so we're going to start ID-tagging every single thing posted by users on public websites. Enforcing this will basically require site owners to install government-mandated spyware on their servers, together with a bunch of other compliance requirements that will push most small sites offline. If you're hosting your own site it had better be completely static, blogs with comments will only be available through hosts like WordPress.com.

There are a few reasons why the Marines like Mattis.

I couldn't have explained it any better myself. He very much was what you want as a leader, he wasn't afraid to walk among those he lead. He also understood marines want to break shit and kill people, and Dowdy was a softcock who got what he deserved. But mostly, the Dowdy situation was a new pussified marine vs a more old school marine that was more about objective than safety. That matters.

Does anyone actually hunt either of those things? They’re both incredibly stealthy. If you see a mountain lion it’s usually a few seconds before one or the other is dead. I would not be surprised if mountain lion killings are solely from self-defense.
