My guess, and I may have missed someone else posit this, is that there is an awful lot of stress arising from Kayla not following Nick's genius legal maneuvers, and the dawning realization that she is looking like the more competent parent, legally speaking, irks Nick to no end. Add in April undoubtedly playing both sides as homewreckers do, whispering her wormtongue doubts into the ears of both Rekietas. Add in the stress of children, the Rekietas' parents, trust funds, and the uncertainty swirling around all these. And all of this against a backdrop of painful sobriety, a sobriety not of choice but as Warski points out, a sobriety forced upon them.
I suspect Kayla's coming to her senses (if she still has any) and isn't Ride Or Die like Nick is doing. After all, Nick admitting to a mountain of cocaine may not be helping Kayla's case, and as the days accumulate from the house raid toward future courtroom dramas, Kayla's legal representation may be talking sense into her, perhaps driving a wedge further between Kayla and Nick and his side piece. Homewrecker is taking the chance to stake a claim in his bony lap, looking forward to more booger sugar from her new paypig--even to the point of proposing a new show with him to get those sweet sweet superchats--and so is helping to slam the door on Kayla's exit.
