Finished watching the SkillUp video on it. I dont like the channel but what he didnt like about the game just happens to be what early leaks on /v/ were warning about. How combat is boring since companions have a shared cooldown on their skills, no enemy variety and difficulty is just enemies becoming sponges, the dialogue is very goody2shoes and how Solas has almost no role in the story since he is not really the antagonist despite the fact that thats how inquisition set it up to be.
Honestly sounds so boring is not even worth playing it with a pirate copy, am just gonna play Ys X

I was at the dentist today with some time to think and I finally realized what Troonguard is all about. DRM, and EA having plausible deniability for wasting money, and nothing else.

EA is pushing this as a AAA title. They agreed with Bioware when they asked to not have anything but the most minor of DRM, pretending to be pro-consumer while hating them just as much as they always have. The reason that EA supported this is not because they have decided to listen to the game companies, or the players, but because they wanted a stalking horse. They knew the game was screwed and a black hole for money after so many rewrites and directors/producers, so they decided to make it useful for other purposes, without essentially losing anything in the end. They let them pos the neg hole of this game to the extreme, and they knew the pos loaded media would lap it up like the dogs they are because it fits their agenda.

They know the game will fail like no tomorrow because of the pos loading, but, in the end, they will blame it on the lack of DRM, everyone just pirated it rather than buying it. The media will jump on that narrative like a starving dog with a steak because they can preserve their narrative of the game being amazing and now they have an out for why it failed. EA will use this as the pretext for putting Ultra Hyper Mega Denuvo Triple Pozzed DRM from that point forward on all their titles. When anyone complains they will just point to Troonguard and say, "Look, we tried it your way, with a genuine AAA title, and the pirating was so severe the game tanked. We can't ever do that again! Do you know how much money that cost us?!" EA will say it was rampant piracy that destroyed the profitability of the game on their earnings call and write it off.

EA gets to save face on spending all that money on a total turd, push ultra DRM for all time moving forward, and have a "plausible" reason on its face for why they had to write it off, those damn pirates! The media gets their ultra pozzed game and they get to blame and hate on a group they already despise, the pirates, without having to admit the game failed from the pos loading rather than piracy. The pirates will make the game available, but 5 total copies will actually be downloaded, and the pirates will be able to show "Look, a whole 5 copies were downloaded! We weren't responsible for this game failing, it was just a piece of shit and EA knows it!" EA won't say anything in response to them and issue a press release that the pirates are just desperate to cover their asses. The media will not report the pirates position on the situation. The normies will believe the filthy pirates are attacking companies, causing inflation, eating babies, etc... So all the bad guys win, and the innocent party, the pirates, get blamed for something they didn't do. In the end, for EA, it is a win/win/win situation all around. The second best possible outcome for them next to a game actually making money.

Feel free to give me all the hats if you think this is just a transient episode of paranoid schizophrenia.

Surely Jersh has to play this now, right? No other game offers such heckin' validation!
He also makes a huge deal out of the 100% thing but then he gives absolutely no indication of having had that experience and doesn't even bring up particularly interesting/annoying achievements.
The only time it came up as far as I remember is when he was sperging out about not being able to 100% Pillars of Eternity because it has an achievement exclusive to Kickstarter backers. The only thing I'll give Mortismal is that he does cover lesser known RPGs. I found out about Space Colony from him and I'm thankful for it. It pisses me off to think that the studio that made it will probably have to close down unless they get a big bump in sales from upcoming indie fests and events, meanwhile AAA troonshine is plastered everywhere.

I'm going to assume this MMO-styled garbage combat is the easiest thing in the world to program because every modern action RPG seems to love using it.

Although it is fascinating to see just how much they can butcher it and the dialog too. I only played the first game and stopped halfway through 2.

Maybe the Blight had a point.

Using achievements as a metric for what constitutes 100%ing a game is wetbrain retardation. We've all played games where actually getting 100% is far above and beyond achievements. I've watched some of his stuff but am admittedly not super familiar with his content. Based off of the responses here, it would suggest that his gimmick is hardly even that. Has he ever elaborated or does he simply assume that the audience he's courting is that vapid?

having trans issues in any fiction where there are also demons/aliens/etc. is always funny to me. why would any of these characters give a shit positively or negatively when things like this exist

Someone should ask the Bioware writers if Darkspawn would make a tranny into a broodmother or not.

Darkspawn lore is one of the most interesting aspects of the DA series to me. It might be a controversial opinion, but I really liked "The Descent" DLC (DA:I) because of the lore exposition throughout it. I don't think we'll see a good lore expo during Veilguard, though.

The thing that I've always wondered in fantasy worlds is surely at some point you'd just be able to magically change your sex. why do we have top surgery scars and vitiligo and shit when I'm sure I could just magically grow/shrink whatever proportions I want same as transforming into a spider or wolf.
