Literally this. Trump turning the US into North Korea 2 isn't happening. Nor really should he. There are still Europeans that want to leave their socialist hell holes and I'm fine with that. I've met those people, great people. I WOULD be happy as a citizen if we set up a DMZ with Mexico though. A million land mines per square mile that isn't on the main roads, and of course the wall. Drug trafficking would slow to a crawl at that point.

No, it wouldn't. The vast majority of drugs enter the US through the port system. A 40ft container can hold metric tons of drugs and has statistically zero chance to be inspected, if it's done right.

A man can't be the de facto leader of an establishment political organization (the GOP) and not be considered an establishment candidate. Trump is hardly some kind of rebel at this stage. His positions are largely more moderate than ever. Which is fine. It's good, even, at least as a campaign strategy.

Trump is the leader, yes, but he's far from the sole voice of the GOP. While he has moderated his positions, and the GOP has in turn also adopted many of his, the majority of the GOP is not made-up of people who think like Trump, Vance himself used to be aganist him not too long ago, for example. Maybe after second term will we see his ideas finally displace neoconservatism as the center of republican thought
