Before getting into any ethical justifications, it's important to cleanly establish my beliefs to help direct discussion.
A question I've never gotten a good answer for is, if abortion is not an option, what do we do with the unloved and unwanted children that will be born? The meme answer of, don't have kids, is retarded. If that was ever a real option then abortion wouldn't be a debated issue. Think of how many low class single mothers America already has. Even if every mother was pure hearted and really intended to raise their child lovingly, it's logistically not possible when they have to work to feed their family. But let's be realistic, many women are resentful of their children for a number of reasons. This isn't a problem exclusive to single mothers but also teenage and young adult couples. Children are stressful and if the parents are not in a good enough economic situation to deal with that then the child will bare the brunt of that stress. Children raised in that condition become fucked up. Its prolonged abuse that lasts potentially their entire life. To see evidence of the damages of being raised by a resentful single mother, read any post in the Official Kiwifarms Women-Hate Thread. How many of those sad incels wish they were never born?
The question of whether or not killing your children can be justified was answered thousands of years ago. Uh duh yes. And for largely the same reasons of rape, incest and physical deformity. They didn't have abortion as we practice it so they would just leave their unwanted children outside to be taken by wild animals. Even if the myth of Spartins casting the bantling on rocks isn't wholy accurate, the practice culling young is ancient. I think the modern concerns of abortion stem from increased life expectancy of children and a misguided empathy that every human is born with the same potential. In the first world, it hasn't been normal to witness children die in the household for multiple generations. An unintended consequence of that is Americans losing their natural calluses to death. We've ironically became weaker and more afraid of death as a result of medical advices.
Life has never been more overvalued in history. Are the severly mentality disabled really worth the cost of government appointed social workers? Are the physically disabled really worth the cost of life long medical intervention? Especially when these unlucky and often unloved children are being substained by the taxpayer. It's selfish to society to maintain life that cannot self substained and have never provided to society. I do have an issues with state backed abortions and believe parents shouldn't pass on that heavy of a burden to random doctors. Parents should take responsibility for their own problems and cull their own children. But that is highly illegal in modern society, so abortions are the best compromise for this issue.
- Abortion is murder.
- Murder can be justified.
- Not every life has equal value.
- A child growing up unloved or destitute is worse than it not being born.
- Culling young is not a new practice.
