What a god-awful stream already... First it's him fiddling with the settings of F.E.A.R. like an absolute boomer, and now he managed to get only 21 or so frames per second on this almost 20-year-old game.

EDIT: after fiddling with the settings some more, he manages to get the game running even worse, shouting that it's badly optimized.

And he seems tipsy already after one shot of alcohol, acting like an annoying drunk teenager. Small impression of this:

So yeah, he's now playing the First Person Shooter F.E.A.R. on PC using a controller with sub-20 frames per second. This is going to be great.

According to PCGamingWiki having a DInput device tanks the framerate. It takes less than a minute to download a 121kb file and drop it in the game's main folder to fix it but to quote Philip of Burnell, Last of His Name, the Felted King "That's PC gaming for ya! I don't wanna spend 15 hours to get a game to run!"

After doing extensive research (30 seconds), I found that F.E.A.R's aged engine doesn't run well on modern hardware because it doesn't "know" how to utilize the hardware. There are fixes for this on the PCGamingWiki.

After doing extensive research (30 seconds), I found that F.E.A.R's aged engine doesn't run well on modern hardware because it doesn't "know" how to utilize the hardware. There are fixes for this on the PCGamingWiki.

That makes sense, some old games run like shit on multi-core processors since they were designed for single core processors so they don't manage resources at all.

I don't think Phil's insistence on recording and streaming at the highest qualities he can put in helps at all though.

kat is barely sentient. she won't leave phil because she has unlimited food and water and a comfortable pen, and phil won't leave her because he's a pussy. also she couldn't survive in the wild, she's spent way too much time in captivity. releasing her would just be irresponsible at this point.

Kat and Phil have a very mutualistic relationship. Kat gets free housing and all the Doordash she could ever eat and Phil gets to pretend to be a mature adult with a wife and "family". Neither has reason to leave the other. If they were still together in 10 years I would not be shocked at all.

The truth of the matter is probably, even if he weren't too lazy in the first place, he wouldn't be able to figure it out and/or it would take him legitimately hours to google the correct answer.

Funny you should say that. The second game of the marathon he's playing right now has this mechanic where it closes after you die, and you have to start over.

Once again zero research or preparation done.
