Well, the numbers they are screaming about are not that impressive.

I love some BG3, but they should be crushing it.
A game from a studio that has nostalgia behind it also has a huge advantage.
Starfield sold extremely well, and players were mostly very dissatisfied with it. Consequently the DLC sold like shit.

Schreier is extremely dishonest if he tries to sell this as evidence that woke sells well.

The only thing people who wanted this to fail can grasp onto now is the hope that it doesn't go over 100k concurrent. I imagine a lot of people pre-ordered this prior to the previews and maybe some are going to get surprised by the content. This is definitely cope on my part. My vested interest in this failing is because I don't want Bioware to touch Mass Effect again.
Did andromeda do well? I don't member.

Is this just Andromeda 2.0? It has okay combat for an action RPG but with all tactics removed, horrible writing, terrible politics and it shits all over previous lore without actually advancing the main storyline. Having strong feelings of déjà vu.

Edit: It also feels very Andromeda-like in a way that I cannot quite explain. Everything from movement to dialogue and even environmental design just reminds me so much of Andromeda.

The Team that barely scraped by with Inquisition calls it "Bioware magic"

This game has to meet dai numbers to be an actual return to form. Both ea and bioware know this since the profitability of BG3 has destroyed any excuse bioware has for taking a decade to make a sequel.

They released on a Thursday to juice stats like movies do for "opening weekend"

It doesn't matter in the end -- only total sales and profits do. Expecting this to concord is stupid, this game has decades of goodwill to burn through.

Dai sold over 10m units a decade ago. Bg3 sold over 15m. If it can't beat the former it's fucked. It has to be competitive with the latter to be worth it to EA. Bioware has had zero blockbuster output in a decade.

It's not at all looking good even if the peak concurrent count hits 100k. BG3 hit 5-10x that for 2x DAI sales over time for comparison.

To be well honest, I genuinely don't care if this game succeeds or fails. What I'm concerned about is how many of those buyers are playing just out of sheer curiosity as to how bad of a trainwreck this game actually is. If this game succeeds solely for that reason alone, that's going to piss me off even more than unironic fans playing this slop.

So things I’ve heard

-about the only good thing in this game is ironically solas. He isn’t the uwu sweetie that Solavellans wrote loads of fanfic over. He’s actually a trickster god after all. He’s assholish and almost succeeds.
-the inquisitor basically represents the south like totally. Morrigan calls herself “advisor to Orlais”(would new fans not recognize the name celene?), I read somewhere she’s treated outright as like-the supreme ruler of the south.
-Kirkwall is destroyed. Maybe Aveline gets a mention?
-no mention of Ferelden I’ve seen yet.

The way the Qunari are handled is honestly par for the course. Even in DAI and Trespasser, the narrative goes out of its way to show the Ben-Hassarath and Viddasala as separate from Qunari society or at least acting on their own initiative. The Antaam are portrayed as villains but no mention of Sten, or a more sustained Qunari invasion. Just occupation of Antiva-which makes the antivan crows into heroic rebels fighting a foreign occupier. Taash not being remotely affiliated with the Qun allows a Qunari companion that isn’t fundamentally at cross odds with the protagonist.

Varric definitely dies.

The game’s portrayal of Tevinter is…honestly just pitiful. You fight Venatori who are still around but Tevinter society and government seem to be ignored? The venatori are treated as just a Corypheus worshipping cult/Tevinter imperialists in inquisition.

Haven’t heard anything about Kal-Shirok.

The evanuris are Saturday morning cartoon villains.

Varric definitely dies.
Varric dies in the intro and is a hallucination throughout the rest of the game. It feels extremely similar to the protagonist's dad dying in Andromeda's opening. I swear this game got a complete reboot and they just copied Andromeda's script for the story in panic.

I feel like andromeda was better than veilguard but that's just saying a fat stinky turd is better than runny diarrhea.

They really screwed the pooch by not having good looking waifus and protags or at least a group of relatable basic ass black-white-yellow dudes.
I bet a lot more coomers would have been into it if they could make a slim amazong woman who is H cup muscle mommy and can have a harem of thots. Not enough to make it a great success, but enough for it to go meh. Or the SM2 treatment of 3 buddies fighting diversely together and being bros, without the gay stuff.

If not for the queerosexual gendermancer, if the game had ok girls and guys to hang around with, it would have just been a mediocre entry like Inquisition.

But every character you see is just pure vomit. Mediocre combat is one thing, but everything being an eyesore is another. My guess is it will peak fast and drop off fast as people realise how annoying every companion is. You can't even make custom ones and ignore the defaults.

The game is shit, and the potential it had is wasted. These rpgs live and die by companions, and this game has the worst I have seen so far.

She's dead in my playthroughs, IIRC. This is probably just a way around the keep stuff.

Oxymoron.
-everything else-
Yep. It's a complete massacre. It might as well be a spinoff/fanfic.
What a complete waste of time.

I fucking hated inquisition but biodrones eating shit is a staple.

Does Larian not like money? Is there any reason they didn't make today the day they put BG3 at it's best price seen this year to kneecap Troonguard? They could have dealt a deathblow to Trannyware by doing that. I'm guessing they aren't the bloodthirsty types.

Me? I would have been "We're going to price BG3 at it's best price this year! We're going for the jugular!"

That would have been funny, but anyone who was going to buy BG3 already did so. It would just make the journoscum descend upon Larian even harder.
