What changed was Biden or "Biden" endorsing Kamala on twitter. The rumors at the time were that Obama, Nancy, and Chuck were looking at someone like Josh Shapiro or another one they could prop up a bit as a "moderate". Biden endorsing Kamala torched any plan they had because now they'd have to openly fight the will of the sitting president and his chosen replacement. They wanted to do this all from the shadows, if the fight became public it'd put even more credence to the idea that the president was forced out in a soft coup and open infighting among the Dems would be even worse not just for the presidency but down ballot too.

At some point in the day I'll get stoned, take a nice bath with an order of Taco Bell (their retro menu is out and I love meximelts) and a tablet to watch the returns. Yes, I plan to eat my food in the bathtub like a heathen (or a boss, depending on your perspective).

Hiding Kamala was and always will be a giant mistake. People will still buy a politician even if they're bad. They have been for past fucking century. Hiding her only made her gaffs and word salad stand out more. Especially since we just had 4 years of the press and media hiding Biden. Everyone knew this schtick already. It was fresh in everyone's minds. Why they chose to invoke these thoughts by hiding her in the same manner is beyond stupid. It made it absolutely impossible for anyone to separate this cunt from Biden.

The basement strategy wasn't the problem, the problem was how easily they got shook and abandoned it. They clearly never considered the contingency where they lost confidence in their surrogates and as a result she was totally unprepared to pivot to media interviews. This made their campaign reboot totally backfire on them. Keep in mind that they were polling ahead for most of the time between her announcement and roughly mid-October. The first debate made them think she might be able to handle the media and the VP debate clearly made them think they had no other choice.
