Kingdom Come Deliverance - Or how I stopped worrying about SJW and love Bohemia | Now with betrayal and a lot more niggers. "Historically accurate." BlackRock ruined the series.

Quick question for you guys.

I remember watching some streams and other footage of this game back when it came out and a few since too. From an outside perspective it looked like it had controls that were trying so hard to emulate reality that they ended up being contrived and hard to use. It also looked like it had some of that old eurojank feel to it like Witcher.

Is that at all accurate or are the controls actually good?
The controls were fine, but a lot of people got filtered by the combat because they never trained, which is optional. If you ever play the game make sure you take up the training in Rattay. It teaches you everything and gives you new moves. It almost makes the game too easy.

Oh so its the same type of people who got mad at Morrowind because they tried to use a weapon they had no skill in and couldnt hit anything. Got it. Thank you.

Yep. Train for a while with Bearnard and you get used to the combat and better.
Henry swing his sword as a drunk fish at the start of the game, but at the end, you become Henry "Cuman remover"

I... I killed them. I killed them all. They're dead... every single one of them.
And not just the Cumen. But the Cuwomen... and the Cuchildren, too.
They're like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals! I HATE THEM!

Don't forget that you even get a free perk for extra damage towards Cumans once you've killed enough of them that also makes some of them run away. Total Cuman Death.

Shame there's no bombs and shit in KCD otherwise we could call Henry the Ghost of Skalitz.

my only regret with KCD is the fucking weekly tournament bugged. I entered it once and it just...never happened again. the game would announce it, but nothing ever happened. i tried everything. i fast forwarded weeks ahead, i killed and respawned the NPC, i did everything.

hoping the second game has a tournament that works this time.

I was never able to get most of the combo moves to work properly, even after training up a bunch. The game was still playable without them, though.

Yeah, the combos are extremely situational since you need to connect with every hit before they trigger and your enemy doing a single dodge or perfect block will end your chain, and even then only a few are capable of hurting someone in heavy armor, which is exactly the sort of foe you should be using combos against. The Scarmaker will only work against someone with a completely unprotected face, False Edge bonks someone on top of the head like something out of the Three Stooges so if they've got a helmet of any sort its useless, Zorn Ort and a few others just stab someone right in the chest, their best protected area, Blunt Strike is just a punch in the face with as little damage as you'd expect...

Drei Wunder is by far the best since it nails them right in the wrist where they've got little to no protection (and as a result is absolutely devastating with an axe), but its a four chain combo that requires some difficult coordination and excellent timing due to the strike locations that, as stated above, can see you cockblocked right at the very end by a dodge or perfect block.

I played on PC, using a controller for the most part; there's nothing complicated about the controls. You use the right stick/mouse to choose the direction you swing the sword, and you need to choose different directions in succession to do combos. LB blocks but also does a riposte if you time it right that auto-wins fights. That's about it.

Edit: disregard, I didn't read the dates of these posts. My apologies.

I loved KCD, it reminded me of playing Oblivion back in the day. I hope KCD2 extends the early game a bit and adds some gold sinks for the mid and end game. The start where you get your ass beat by anyone and have to scrape by and use every dirty tactic in the book just to whoop a bandits ass is so much fun. The second you got chainmail and a gambeson though the game was almost over with how indestructible it made you.
