Newcomer to the retrotech space. Some kind of Eastern European they/them woman (at least I'm pretty sure she's a natal woman). Some of her vids are pretty good but she's definitely... progressive. As far as what she covers, it's a bit more modern than what 8-Bit Guy and LGR do, but still retro by 2024 standards. Here's two vids I found entertaining enough to finish:literally who
i dont know why you think this is a natal woman, this just sounds like a man from finlandNewcomer to the retrotech space. I'm a shut-in burger, I can barely distinguish voices from my country let alone the funny euro ones.i dont know why you think this is a natal woman, this just sounds like a man from finland
It's not just money from passes, there is also money from food & drinks (archive)Can anyone explain to me how his arcade is gonna recoup any money? Its like $12 for an all day pass and $20 for a months pass and open only 5 days a week. Is he really expecting that many visitors? I can see someone going once or twice, but not a constant recurring customer base.
I know he also sells booze, those prices aren't on the menu, but I still don't see it having the traffic. It's not just money from passes, there is also money from food & drinks (archive)

One of their partners owns another arcade, doubt he'd invest in another arcade if the one he currently owns isn't making a profit. So they at least have a pathway to profitability. Can anyone explain to me how his arcade is gonna recoup any money? I've been to one that was $12/hour. But I don't think they had food. Still ... those prices are quite insanely low. I have a felling the monthly pass will be something people forget about and just be reoccurring revenue (or people who just want to support the store). It might also work out well for kids because you could just take them after Scouts or sports and that way you drag in another kid(s) or family. It's not just money from passes, there is also money from food & drinks (archive)
They probably sell the food for cheap so people will stay longer and spend more on the games. At least that's how I'd do itThe food prices same crazy low though too. Has inflation not hit Texas as hard, or do they have a really good food distributor? I know there's a high margin on food (the nachos are probably like 50cents or less if you leave out labor and the sunk costs) but those prices still feel really low for 2024.
Since it's day or month passes that doesn't really work out. They probably sell the food for cheap so people will stay longer and spend more on the games. At least that's how I'd do it
Ah, I thought it was being run like a OG arcadeSince it's day or month passes that doesn't really work out.
You'd be really surprised. A well-run arcade with hospitable operators in a decently high-traffic area will routinely stay busy. The actual hard part is keeping the games going, specifically any with a gimmicky cab like Pole Position, Paperboy, anything Sega, etcbut I still don't see it having the traffic.
Yea if anything becomes a problem it would be upkeep on the machines that are notorious for constantly breaking down. Some of the more popular seat and move machines have gear boxes and moving parts. So you not only need electronics knowledge, you need to be confident in keeping them alive. That really only becomes an issue if he decided to rotate machines in an out every so often. If they are sticking with the more simple machines. It wont be a problem. You'd be really surprised. I'm perplexed by 'Crackers' being labeled under 'Sweets'It's not just money from passes, there is also money from food & drinks (archive)
