pretty much nail on the head here, and i've preached it elsewhere, but it really comes down to a refusal of acceptance over things that you can't control or influence. like, it sucks, sometimes you just roll badly at birth (hey that's me!) but there's 0 point sitting around crying about what you're completely unable to change. they sit and mope about what they don't have what they can't do what they'll never have/do and wonder why nobody wants to be around it.

Well, sure. I think most people probably want to play out a fantasy as any kind of idealized form. In general the success stories are few and far between for character designs that are intentionally non-traditionally attractive. You think of characters like Roadhog, Goldlewis, R6S's Gridlock, Ana, etc.; they're exceptions to the usual slop we get in things like Concord where next to nobody wants to play as some fat greaseball that gets gassed after a minute of jogging. I imagine that women, like men, just generally like things that are attractive.
Generally i agree that modern games are full of ugly as sin characters. I just don't like the bold assertion that women want to be hypersexualized. Sexualization and beauty are not the same thing. I just want to be pretty.

As much as I like NH I'm almost certain this is gonna fall on deaf ears for the most part, let alone on this thread. Can't agree with the part he brings up on how the fear for incels is overblown; even if they're still a minority in terrorist overall attacks, it's a nascent movement that still has the potential to pick up steam in the worst case. Hell, just the gist of a movement filled with men that display joy whenever a woman suffers would be enough reason for them to avoid those bastards like the plague.
