Greta Gustava Martela / Kjel Anderson & Nina Chaubal / Niraj Chaubal - Stole $350k+ from Trans Lifeline, kill count of 2+ from negligence, Founders of Sisterwood/La Zorra.

Immigration lawyers do not work on contingency. Period.

You pony up the cash or you fuck off. Immediately.

I had a look at Ava's website's Experience section. This struck my eye:
  • Obtained cancellation of removal for a citizen of China who was placed in removal proceedings after having lived in the United States without lawful status for more than a decade by proving that Client’s presence in the U.S. was critical to the wellbeing of his U.S. citizen wife, plagued with depression and other severe medical problems, and their two young children.
Is this the likely play here? Argue that Greta is too batshit mental to manage without Nina as a full time caregiver? (Best not to mention Greta and the issue of her children, whoops)

@MirnaMinkoff is it possible that Ava is working pro bono for the potentially high profile of the case in the trans community - bluntly, is it possible Ava is being paid in good-girl points? I can't see Greta getting her hands on enough money soon enough to actually hire Ava.

(and I admit I would be heavily surprised if Ava ISN'T AMAB)

Not actually having to pay Ava would also explain the decision to retain a lawyer in DC which I agree is otherwise Not Fuckin Smart

Greta is a shock and awe type of beast, the hope for the one knock out punch in a fell swoop to stop bad people saying mean things.

It's pretty obvious from the floundering Greta has been doing, that the only ways he knows how to solve problems are to scream OMG TRANSMISOGYNY!, threatening people, grandstanding, and appealing to the troon squad for personal army help and donations.

Which will work, on a certain type of spineless fag. The sort who checks their privelege and doesn't understand life outside of social media.

It's too bad that Greta's two biggest enemies right now, old-guard internet autists (us, chans, etc), and the Federales holding Pajeet, are both immune to that sort of thing.

Hmm, that's interesting I wouldn't have even thought she'd see a judge till at least Monday. Very odd. They usually require the CF interview before letting someone bond out, because bond is only granted if there is a legal avenue to remain in the USA to begin with. I'm thinking maybe they did submit an I-190 application but it was still "pending" because they never followed up with the paperwork necessary to get it approved (like divorce papers). So if the application was in a pending status that could save her because it shows she was trying to take steps to be legal but - kind of puts her in a grey area but looks much better before a judge than not doing shit.

Nina is in a better position than probably 95% of the immigrants in that facility because she has resources and people on the outside who give a shit. The facility might be so over crowded they are being lenient about bail, idk.

I'll wait and see if she is actually bonded out. The weird thing is if bond was granted there's no reason she has to wait till Tuesday to get out. Bond is bond, pay it and she can go. So there's something odd about bond being set but not letting her bond out for several more days. Greta isn't telling us at least one piece to this story, it could be a "bonded out IF" situation.

There is a lot of bullshit and false hope fed to people in detention. Nina could very well be bonded out, but you get bond you get to go usually immediately, not in a few days. If it was just a matter of needing cash I'm sure Greta would be passing the plate like a grifter she is.

Oh, they will be going to court for YEARS if this asylum claim manages to go anywhere at all. Nina wants to get as far away from Leroy Immigration court as humanly possible.

Here is a link to the percentage of asylum claims denied/approved by judges in Elroy. Elroy is one of the worst courts in the country for asylum claims. The approval rate for asylum claims in Elroy average between 2% and 7% of all claims between four judges. It breaks down the stats between the judges in Elroy and it's bleak. If she gets Judge Devitto, she's fucked, he approves only 2% of asylum claims in his court.

God I love watching arrogant troonery smash face first into reality.

Hmmm... Going by the facts people have relayed here and the commentary by the experts here, this seems to be an extraordinarily good outcome. I'm guessing either there are mitigating factors we're not aware of, the system there was very averse to bad publicity and wanted to minimize it by offering her bail, or they just got extremely lucky in some other way. Honestly I'm glad they didn't put her in with men or do anything else their stupid brigade was crying about, but Nina doesn't deserve this kind of good fortune. Far more worthy candidates are not offered bail.

"TW"? WTF? How does her alluding to misconduct at a facility so briefly qualify for a TW? God damn, this whole TLL/Greta & Nina saga is a gold mine for us.

I've never been through such a checkpoint so that's interesting. I"m also betting there are some major things being left out of the story. Had Greta and Nina just said, yep we're citizens all cool, they might have gone on their merry way but getting fore warning they were entering a check point they panicked. (Also, they probably assumed things would be checked so they had to tell the truth when asked. )

Because they are stupid and arrogant they probably thought everything was cool because Nina had a valid Indian passport and a marriage certificate, and with that they could just talk there way around any issue. Wrong. As soon as they admitted Nina was a Indian national they were going to check her status - and the expired work visa (and no legal change in status after that) was a one way ticket to ICE detention. ICE has a serious database and once you are flagged there is no chance in hell of talking your way out of it.

If, as I suspect, it was an H-1B, this is one of the few visas where you can actually fairly easily change your status rather than, as with most visas, having to leave the country and come back.

These two troon fucks have nothing but their own laziness and stupidity to blame for this, and whatever mouthing off Greta the Ogre did to the ICE guys to trigger added scrutiny.

Got it from an expert who knows even more about immigration than I do.

This bond not being immediate means thee is a HEARING set between now and when this magic bond will happen on Tuesday. Bond is immediate, there's not waiting unless it's not actually a given and a hearing is going to happen which will actually determine if she gets bond or what the fuck is going to happen. It might be a "this will be your bond IF" yadda yadda.

I have no idea if Greta/Nina realize this or just think its some formality and nothing to sweat. The NYE holiday complicates matters and creates delays, but it should not change the ability to bond some one out immediately if bond is actually set. I'm talking you get out in hours once bond is set. It's just a formality to post bond once it's set, no biggie, usually out within hours. (They are famous for releasing people even at midnight, they process bond anytime and want you out of their hair). Having to wait days indicates something else is also ongoing.

Also, the bond shit doesn't mesh with making an asylum claim. You only get to bail out once you get your CF determined. Greta's statement doesn't make sense in several different ways. (To be honest I'm only familiar with the way things are done on the east coast but this is federal stuff and should be standard procedure everywhere.)

Is she likely to get this bond?

If she is bonded out, then I worry she'll be in the free and clear, practically speaking. Like, if Nina gets out on bond, since they've had this scare, they'll quickly move to get the correct paperwork for Nina's green card and that'll be the end of it. Does that sound correct?

Thanks for all your posts, this has been educational and helps in keeping my hopes up for a deportation.

Not being American there isn't much I can add to the thread so I didn't post, but I kept a close eye and this drama is delicious. I don't really like smug ass people like those two, who claim to want to help people but clearly wouldn't do it if there wasn't something in for them.

Regarding your last sentence, I believe narcissistic-kinda people don't understand shit about procedures and how it works. I mean, I've seen it with my own eyes, so I believe she doesn't have a good grasp of the process.

I really hope for a deportation. Just like I hoped that Americans get Trump as a president. Because even if it's considered "bad" by some (both sides of the spectrum), these kinda events will shake things up and that's a good thing.
