Yes.

I went back and added a bit more info from Xbox player counts.

As I said, Gamepass is going to skew those metrics, and IDK if this list included both Xbox and PC Xbox app, but there are probably still more people playing Starfield Overall than it looks like. If you have PC gamepass, the only reason you would want to play on steam is if; A) you dont want to be bothered with signing into xbox or B) want to use more intricate mods (which may not even be the case anymore)

Steam doesn't count Xbox App games, so that all time player count for steam is exclusively sales via steam.

And as I've pointed out before, there is no interest in this game. It's not as easy of a metric to measure, but that means that any future sales or growth is going to be very minimal. Good or bad, people still talk about Starfield, and there was a ton more discussion about it at release. For how 'controversial' the game is, people really couldn't care less about discussing it.

EDIT: Just for reference, the Starfield vs DA reddit numbers right now.

View attachment 6622246

More members, and around 50% of the active users of the DA reddit. Remember, this is for a mediocre, console/platform exclusive RPG that came out over a year ago.

Alright, now I'm done sperging about the numbers.
Honkai star rail sub has nearly triple that number

Then if southern Thedas was trashed by darkspawn, why is Morrigan so chill
Because they butchered her character. Doesn't the codex entry say she is mysterious and loves to fuck, for some reason? Despite her very much not being the kind of woman who sleeps around? They're probably going to just straight up make her a villain in the next game.

I mean, you're allowed to change off screen, but there was literally no hint of this in Dragon Age Inquisition, this is just making shit up

With how much Failguard has butchered both the lore and worldstate of Dragon Age, I'm asking myself where can Bioware go from here? Fereldan, Kirkwall and most of Orlais have been destroyed. Every major mystery in the series, from the Veil to Andraste to the Old Gods to the Black City has been solved in the worst way possible. Based on the in-game timeline we are more than halfway through the Dragon Age era from which the series derives its title. If there is a next game it will be based around fighting the mysterious Executors who have apparently masterminded every event in recorded history. Once the next protagonist (as it's almost a guarantee that the HoF, Hawke or the Inquisitor won't be returning) inevtiably kills them and saves the day as god forbid you get a bad ending where the hero dies, what more stories are there to tell? All of the allure, mystery and fun of Dragon Age has been vaporised. None of the earth-shattering lore reveals will matter, as Failguard didn't even do its material the respect of showing the consequences fo such reveals - why is no one upset that Andrastianism was essentially debunked in its entirety? What happened to anti-elf racism and the elven rebellion flocking to Solas? What happened to the widescale Qunari invasion? What happened to the Architect? Where is the anti-mage discrimination? There will be none of the political intrigue or apocalyptic events hinted at all the way back in Origins, and everything memorable about Origins (the Blight, darkspawn, characters and storylines etc.) have all amounted to naught.

I have always thought that the finale of Dragon Age would culminate in a truly apocalyptic Blight that the character would see in even greater detail than Origins. Instead of a single final battle, darkspawn would be the main enemy type. Couple that with Solas tearing down the Veil and various political intrigues from every race and culture (like the Qunari invasion, but I'm sure a lot more could be added), you would have a recipe for a truly amazing and bleak dark fantasy RPG. I'm sure you could find a way to integrate most of the series previous characters into the finale - it would be a massive undertaking, but it is Dragon Age after all. This series has never been known for its gameplay, and what else would Bioware be doing with a decade of development time and over 100 million dollars in EA cash? This game could have been a real gift to the fanbase who have stuck with this franchise for over ten years and have supported this franchise with their time, energy and money, but Bioware chose to flick their thumb at us for no discernible reason. A truly great end should have seen the protagonist storming the gates of the Black City itself with our companions, not some sterile reveal that elves did everything basically. What's the point of playing any other race then if they're so insignificant in comparison, in addition to Bioware doing its best to neuter any significant differences (by giving dwarves magic and such?)

Sorry for the incoherent doompost Kiwibros, reading more about the story and lore of this game has got me blackpilled as hell as how such a masterpiece in Origins could be butchered like this.

As an aside, I think Failguard would have worked better if either the Inquisitor came back as the protagonist. I don't think Dragon Age needs to have a new hero each iteration, and given the history between Solas and the Inquisitor having this Rook character save the world and imprison him ends his arc on a wet fart. Hawke re-occuring would be tricky as he/she can die in Inquisition, but the Hero of Ferelden could easily return - I don't think the voice acting would be as great an impediment as one might think. They wouldn't even necessarily have to go that route. Fallout New Vegas was a very compelling RPG with a silent protagonist, and I don't see how bringing back a silent hero would be a regression in any sense. We know the HoF is trying to cure the Calling, and what better way to do that then killing the last two archdemons/Old Gods and unlocking the mysteries of the Black City? This would have to take place in a world where the archdemons weren't merely horcruxes for elven gods and the Black City was more than a glorified prison.

I really liked what I saw of the video, he seems to be a good critic.
Too bad about the gross tranny voice, it makes it completely unwatchable.
It did make me realize nobody used the "you haven't even chopped the melons" line to refer to non binary pooner BS. Kinda a lost opportunity
Also considering a tranny is laying into it now, I doubt veil-guard has much defense now. Hope someone posts this review on their steam forums to argue about.

I dunno ... there's the double-whammy that everyone knows "it's never enough" when it comes to placating trannies (ergo the criticism is to be expected and nothing special), and the possibility of this tranny being canceled for daring to criticize one of the first games to lean hard into the genderspecial language bullshit.

Bioware still has plenty of mindless drones eager to defend whatever garbage they churn out, too.

I'm asking myself where can Bioware go from here?
The game has sold less than a million copies. There is no "from here". This series is going to go dormant if not shelved indefinitely. Bioware is so fucked that even the Mass Effect game is in doubt. I think it's going to happen but if it fails... EA has shut down studios for less.

The ultimate sign of desperation for gaming, as it is with movies, are remakes. I would not put it past Bioware to try and remake Origins at some point in the future if they get put under pressure by EA to rake in some cash now that the post COVID investments are drying up.

i keep seeing people say this, do they actually destroy the south or just "meh doesn't matter anymore, lets pretend it doesn't exist"?

I hope the era of remakes and remasters ends, and the era of re-do's comes to fruition, where good games ruined by woke faggotry are expelled from canon - while their creators fired out of them, and a restored timeline takes place.
Compared to the film industry, videogames have only recently started the trend and have seen how much they sell. It all started with RE2: Remake. Now, all companies facing low sales have announced remakes of some sort. Ubisoft with the Prince of Persia Sands trilogy (and recently saying they want to return to the original formula of Assassin's Creed), Rocksteady with Arkham Asylum, Konami with Silent Hill and Metal Gear, CDProjektRed with the original Witcher, Square Enix with FF7, on and on it goes.

It's only a matter of how desperate the studio is.

Yep, it's completely gone. For some reason the First Warden called all Grey Wardens back to Weisshaupt Fortress, a move that in reality would take months of in-game time and wouldn't be feasible. Every area we explored in the previous three games has been destroyed from the Blight - this is reported to Rook by a letter from the Inquisitor. The only Fereldan city holding out is Denerim I think, so even areas of the world that should be harder to conquer like Redcliffe and Orzammar are gone.

I don't think EA will ever close Bioware. I have nothing to base it on but it is a hunch i had for a long time. Even after all those fuckups in recent years, the name Bioware still means something. And i think EA sees the value in that. What i think could happen over the years is that they restructure the studio, give it new devs, tone down on the retarded politics and try to capture the magic of the old Bioware again. The studio will change, but the name - Bioware - will always be there. There is just too much potential for money there, even after all those flops. It just needs one Hit and everyone will talk about how Bioware is back. It is less risky than starting a whole new studio from scratch and build a reputation again. The Namerecognition alone is worth a lot.

I wouldn't be surprised, as we get more and more information on ME5 that they tone down the woke and idpol shit. I mean they already started with that shortly after Troonguard released. Probably a bit too optimistic on my part but i think there is a decent chance we finally start to see a course correction over the years. Even if it is a small one. Woke will never go away but i don't neccesarily think that is a bad thing per se. You could absolutely tell very cool storys with woke material and i think they will try to lean more into that angle instead of the preachy self-therapy shit that we see nowadays. Just imagine the whole Taash character in the context of the DA: Origins Qunari society and how this thing tries to navigate arund those societal restrictions and the Qun. That could be an interesting story to tell, i think.

If 2024 showed one thing crystal clear is that the modern audience does not exist and woke shit just burns money and costumer goodwill like nothing else. And execs see that, despite how retarded and detached from the industry they are. They inevitably will come to the same conclusion or go bankrupt.

Me and my innate optimism, in the end they will probably double down even more but i like to stay with the rainbow, so i'll keep cnvincing myself that this is exactly how it will happen.

The final proof that this game is a total failure, 100%, with no room for interpretation:

Proof of Total Fail.png

Sunday, 20:00 - 21:00 UTC is always the weekly peak for gaming. Last week's peak on Sunday was 89,418, today it was 61,063, meaning that Sunday over Sunday, the peak dropped by ~32% which is absolutely devastating.

Current estimates, across all platforms for number of copies sold after 10 days is 550 - 620 thousand, for a gross revenue of approximately $25 - $35 million dollars. This means that the losses for this game based on sales are expected to be colossal. Not Concord levels of fail (which is exceedingly rare) but by all metrics the largest fail in the history of the Dragon Age series, and likely the largest title failure ever for Bioware by a very large margin.

Fable bros are we fucked
Fable 2 was the first video game I ever played, and it will always hold a special place in my heart (Fable 3 was dogshit though). I'm optimistic for the next Fable actually. None of the trailers were woke and focused on stuff that makes Fable what it is - the heroes, art style and world of Albion. If it sucks that's both of my all-time gaming franchises up in smoke so maybe I'm just coping, but I see no reason to be dismayed yet. Bioware has been a sinking ship for years - Fable 4 is a clean slate and hopefully a reboot for an underrated franchise.

Oh thank god. Fable was the first rpg I played so I have been hoping it wasn’t going to be bad
