Wow, you both voted for Trump but have no clue what Tariffs even are or what they do. Tell me, do you think the Chinese are going to pay for them?
See the problem here is that you seem to think that importers paying higher prices for Chinese garbage is somehow a bad thing
Edit: I realized that this probably needs more elucidation, importers paying higher prices for Chinese garbage electronics and other shit we don't need will level the playing field for American (or really any other) producers of the same goods. It will have a two-fold effect: first, it will discourage the average American from purchasing those products in the first place, and second, it will encourage the aforementioned Western producers of electronics and other things by preventing impossibly cheap bullshit made by the literal third world in slave labor conditions from flooding our shores, which American producers in particular can't hope to compete with
This will have a knock-on effect as the manufacturers in question re-develop the small consumer electronics industry here domestically and in partnership with known-good actors overseas like Japan or literally anywhere that isn't China, as the industry develops further prices will go down as competition drives the parties in this industry to attempt to undercut their competitors to succeed
You might not think this will happen but the most recent instance I can think of where it happened is the weed industry, the chronic has gotten progressively cheaper and better every year and in the three states I have any experience at all with it I witnessed the industry develop in three stages:
1. weed stores popped up like, well, weeds, as people with money tried to invest in the industry and get in on the ground floor
2. lots of the same stores went out of business for various reasons, some related to the quality of their products, some related to the reasons lots of small businesses everywhere fold
3. the ones that remain do so either through huge influxes of capital or catering to the demographics of their customers or both, usually the latter since not every weed store everywhere is all marble and gold inlay, even the most ratty store has a nice following if the people are nice and the shit is cash
Point being tariffs have a chance to work if they're correctly applied in conjunction with a sound economic policy,
like they were during his last term you turbo faggot
