RIP Thread

Tony Todd is a fucking legend. Super under appreciated. I loved him in the Night of the Living Dead remake from 1989

Dude was a legend. Even his two minute cameo in a B movie schlockfest like Wishmaster was memorable and stood out.

I also enjoyed him being the creepy mortician in the Final Destination movies, and also his voice work in DOTA 2. He will be missed indeed.

And I didn't know he died at only age 69, I thought he would be in his 70s by now.

Night of the Living Dead 1990 actually aired on AMC Sunday night (early Monday morning) between replays of The Walking Dead: Darryl Dixon season 2 finale. Tony Todd was great in that. But I know him best as mortician William Bludworth in the Final Destination franchise, the man who has memorized every paragraph of Death's rulebook, and he reprised his role one last time in the upcoming Final Destination: Bloodlines (to be released next year but filmed earlier this year).

I guess we're getting to the age where all the great actors we grew up with are dying.
It hit me hardest when George Carlin and Robin Williams passed away, not just because of how god damn good they were, but because it's clear that the "talent" that's emerging to replace them is diluted and almost sterile. We're supposed to be standing on the shoulders of giants, but our modern entertainers seem content to sit on the ground beside them making fart noises and giggling instead.

Since this is also a thread for death anniversaries, today (November 11th) is the 25th anniversary of the suicide of Mary Kay Bergman, the original voice actress for the female characters on South Park.

Not gonna lie, even though I was unfamiliar with Mary Kay Bergman beyond the characters she voiced, her suicide still shook me a lot when I first heard about it.
