Whether or not Nick is still on substances , he will never be a "sober person," bc according to Nick he does not have any sort of addiction ("no one in this house struggles with addiction"). According to Nick, he quit everything by just deciding to.

And he may not in fact be an addict in the way we usually conceive of them, and maybe instead has just merely misused or abused drugs/ alcohol for years. But he has clearly let substances have an incredible negative effect on his life.

But the key point with Nick is that he regrets nothing. Not one thing*. He maintains that his marriage is solid, his kids are great, he's fine. His "having fun" has had, has, and will never have a negative impact on anyone in his family (+ that second tier he put April in a few months ago; not sure whether he ever thinks about the impact having a 40-year-old money- and emotion-sucking child might have on parents), and so no ragerts, and therefore it is objectively fine.

And if you regret nothing and believe you have no "problem," not surprising to have an"I'm not like those people" perspective and to look down on anyone who has "admitted they are powerless...," etc.

It says a lot about Nick, also, that he would go after that in particular: mainly, it says, "petty bitch" and "sulky child." The fact that his "fuck you" makes absolutely no sense (cancer from sobriety?) says yup, he's not thinking - so either substances or psychosis...and I think the psychosis will take a little longer.

I dunno, but I think a lot of has to do with the fact Aaron got out of the polycule, and the rest of them are in pretty deep shit. He can't stand the fact that Aaron wised up and didn't adhere to what almost feels like a suicide pact at times.

Does crack give you the bedbug itches? I thought that was a meth thing. Others have suggested that maybe he's getting into that (perhaps on top of crack), but I didn't know crack had that effect on people.

The itching with pure meth is mostly psychological, but almost no meth is actually pure unless you're somehow getting pharmaceutical grade. Much of it is cooked by hillbillies and beaners who failed high school chemistry, not Walter White or some shit. Those often contain a lot of highly toxic compounds that come out in sweat and sebum, often clogging pores and causing the stereotypical "meth face" which is then exacerbated by constantly picking at the sores.

In severe cases, the psychological aspects become a lot worse with people even developing delusional parasitosis and literally thinking there are insects under their skin, and then the scratching and picking get crazy.

So if he's doing meth you're going to see a rapid deterioration in appearance, as in anti-drug PSA worthy (and he already is on that spectrum).

Yea I wouldn't be surprised if this latest spiral over the past week was due to something he read in Aaron's emails about some testimony or something in the criminal case. This is probably why no one knows what happened that caused the spiral, because no one is supposed to know due to it being testimony in the case that isn't public yet.

I'm sure Aaron has given information to the police. I think he's even said so. It's largely irrelevant, though, as that information wasn't part of the probable cause for obtaining the warrant and the evidence for the possession charges is entire in itself.

I'm sure there is stuff Aaron knows which Nick doesn't want revealed, but it might be stuff that isn't even relevant to the criminal charges. It might be more related to the CPS case. Nick is a very spiteful person and he can't handle what he views as "betrayal" (see his veiled threats to Sean regarding ethics violations) or not being in control of a situation. Remember how nasty he got with Vic. This isn't new behaviour on Nick's part.
