She gave context of what happened before. She saw his address online and the whole "Your body, my choice" and went to take photos of his house for her friends. While there, there was another woman in a car who convinced her to knock on Nick's door. That's when the video started.

My guess is there were people going by his house all day which had him on alert. Whether this makes justifiable, I'm not sure. It's not illegal to do what they did.
