Having conversations with young leftists is confusing as fuck. Most of them are unaware that they hold two contradicting views at once:
a.) The labor force and working class are the backbone of American society and need to be valued and trusted.
b.) The labor force and the working class are uneducated and unintelligent, and it's looked down upon to hold a normal, working-class job.
In an earlier post on this site, I shit on a black-studies major who I said would end up as a barista. I probably should have worded it better (unconscious bias and all that). Theres nothing wrong with "ending up as a barista." However, if you go into black-studies, you should be highly aware of your limited job prospects. Unless you're secretly giving the University president handjobs in his office every Tuesday at 6 PM, you're probably not going to end up getting a well paying, knowledge driven job.
What I'm getting at is get the fuck over yourself man. Concrete workers and farmers and coffee-makers drive our fucking economy. Why give that role, that responsibility to someone who isn't even an American?

I don't know who most of these faggots are, but I do recognize Bill Nye the science guy... Obviously, he has no qualifications at all for saying that the world is about to end. He isn't even a real scientist.

He is and always has been at best a mediocre engineer, who had a decent children's show decades ago now, which was used to teach a classroom by lazy/hungover teachers, and he's done fuck all of note since then... Unless we're counting that time when he tried to explain "butt stuff" on that cringy as fuck netflix show, already also now several years ago at this point.

That Doomsday clock thing has been garbage since about 2005-2007ish when it became more about climate alarmism and not about the prospect of a nuclear war starting. Not that it was ever much of an indicator for that either.

The doomsday clock is utter trash, that’s never actually reflected doomsday, even when it was just about nuclear war. It’s just liberal garbage and always has been. For proof of this, the clock was closer to midnight under Reagan because they didn’t like him than it was during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The only use it has EVER given the world was being the inspiration for Iron Maiden’s Two Minutes to Midnight.

Mr Wizard was always something I loved watching as a really small kid. I'm sure it's dated as hell now since it was mid-late 80s but he would just do basic science experiments and literally explain them to 5 year olds. The dude was doing science shows for little kids for decades so he was really skilled at breaking things down into bite sized chunks. There was some decent things on PBS, like Square One, but again, it was for a late 80s audience, so it looks pretty campy now. I'd like to forget Slim Goodbody though. That dude gave me nightmares.

Yup. Just an hour ago a guy I know posted a screed on his social media laughing about how silly all of Trump's picks are and how he only has slim leads in the House and Senate, so he'll achieve nothing. It's this week's; 'Kamala ran a flawless campaign.'

It's mainly an issue if they need extra funding or wanting to change laws.
Not so much on the running/operational direction of government departments.

Even though Musk has been joking a lot about the DOGE branding, the objective is to identify and hack off inefficiencies in government. And he will take to it with gusto.

Most of the time, they won't need any meaningful interaction/permissions with the other branches. Just the presidential executive signoff to fire up the chainsaw and start severing at low hanging branches.

For any changes requiring funding etc, they can can hold them to ransom, under the threat of a bloodbath if they don't cooperate.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well produced the show was. It was actually funny, actually entertaining, and more importantly, it actually taught critical thinking skills and real science. I was blown away that this guy explaining how how electricity works was somehow the same guy in that cringy "Sex Junk" """science"""" video. It's shocking to see how far this guy has fallen.

I'm not exaggerating when I say the old show is good. It's a crying shame that there are no modern day STEM shows like the old Bill Nye or The Magic School Bus.

there was a golden period of public television funding in the 80s or 90s that i think was championed by tipper gore and it led to a huge rennaisance of educational television, but it was always just a vehicle for patronizing to children. the whole point of it was to target children with propaganda. bill nye was never any different its just there weren't any political topics to manipulate back then - they absolutely would do that now on the subject of global warming or evolution. back then they didn't want to say anything controversial because it wasn't socially or politically advantageous, but at some point liberals made it a point to make controversial things as public as possible to draw attention to them - which is not good for children's television

i hated arthur when i was a kid and it was one of the foundational pieces of media to make me critical of authority and question what i'm being taught because the only thing the show covered was interpersonal behavior, and there were many episodes where the lesson was just flat out wrong because it was motivated by some broader adult concept it wasn't explaining to the viewers. i don't think the people producing television understand how much kids think about this stuff and just assume they're blank slates, because fundamentally the motivation behind educational television is to serrupticiously pour as much shit as they can into their heads in the hopes that the parents don't notice

Reagan is strange because people seem to either have a delusional love or hatred of him, without really understanding his policies. I have very mixed feelings, personally.

Most presidents are presented a certain a way in the media or in school, and so certain people will just assume they are that way. Obama is an example of a president who was very bad that is completely whitewashed by the media. The other day, someone told me that Obama had, "no scandals under his administration".

Regarding Bush, the response to hurricane Helene mirrors Katrina in many ways, and yet received much more positive news coverage. A FEMA official deliberately ignoring victims of a hurricane based on political affiliation is absolutely bizarre, and MSNBC and CNN will downplay or run cover for all that shit.

I feel like this is a black people and academic thing. My Boomer dad is a lifelong, dedicated Democrat who has never voted for a Republican in his entire life. He voted for Humphrey, McGovern, Carter, and Mondale. However, he doesn't repeat the same nostrums about Reagan that I hear black people and academics pray.

It makes sense for black people to hate Reagan because, frankly, he didn't do shit about the crack epidemic. Gay people from the time period have an axe to grind with Reagan because his response to AIDS was also tepid. Say whatever you want about niggers and faggots, but they still vote.
