Do Black people, Chinese people, Indian people, etc still exist? I.e. is everyone mixed race in this setting or is it only White people that are gone entirely?
I don't know what he's talking about.
This isn't reflected by ingame models but IIRC the codex (or some other source like a book or dev posts on forums) said that nearly every human was some flavor of Caucasian/Asian mutt by the time ME1 takes place. I also recall that Anderson being black was considered rare, which I think came from one of the books written by Karpyshyn.

These bits of lore were dropped in the sequels.

A million copies isn't much for a AAA game, right?
No. It's horrible for an AAA game. Typically for these huge games that are in development for ages and have ridiculous giga-marketing you want them to be multi-million sellers out of the gate.

Could sell more over time but it seems to be collapsing on Steam top sellers. So it's not looking great. You also have to remember this is EA, who has deranged sky-high sales expectations for everything.

One of the things that gave away he's full of shit is that he claimed the "old people at bioware were right leaning" David Gaydar wrote DA:O. I'm hoping that someone calls for receipts, and he comes back with nothing. At least nuhre tried to show receipts with hers, with her on stream check with her leaker.

Yeah, the idea that Bioware was some right-leaning game developer before them pesky WOKIES came is stupid. It was always pro-lgbt, feminist, anti-racist, and so on. It might have gotten worse over time or, instead, more hamfisted. But it was always there.

I agree with you 100%. It's like that part when he says "if this was false, then Bioware would have released a statement". Why would they waste their time acknowledging the existence of this youtuber? Especially since he is Mercunt's biggest ayylawg.

This million-dollar company is TOTALY freaking out over the great inside leak of "Bioware WOKE" Truly, this must be shot down right now.
It is so fucking stupid.

Maybe you should talk to him for the sources. Just today, a Electronic Arts employee is whistleblowing Smash JT again, leaking that Dragon Age: The Veilguard surpassed a million sales amid the grim BioWare atmosphere.

Why do you trust this guy? This evidence is still "Trust me bro."

It so happens I got an email from an insider within SmashJT, and it said, "This guy is a fag that lies." trust me, bro.

There's something of a plot reason/contrivance why humanity needs to be ethnically diverse. That genetic diversity makes humanity valuable for unethical genetic experiments. Maelon experiments on humans whilst trying to find a cure for the genophage, and the collector's interest in humanity - alongside Shepard attracting the Reaper's attention after killing Sovereign - was due to being interesting from a genetic viewpoint. Miranda's existence in-universe is due to one autist's attempt to create a perfect progeny, gene altering included. If ME1's lore was a homogenous humanity, ME2 undoes it due to it being necessary for a couple plot threads. Maybe humanity's uniqueness in terms of genetics would've played a larger part in ME3 alongside Dark Energy if the writing had been unaltered.

Stardust finally has his review out. After over 60 hours of gameplay, he couldn’t bring himself to finish the game.

It comes down to the writing and adherence of this modern gender crap. David Simon is a democratic socialist retard. When he was show running The Wire, though, he had to write a compelling story, which meant shoving his socialist garbage to the side hiring police officers, politicians, detectives, etc. to write scenarios for the show.

Two week out from release day, how are things looking? Well, it's dropped to 29th in best selling and 35th in currently mostly played. It also maxes out around 10k Twitch viewers and 30k concurrent players in recent days (though this weekend should see a marginal increase). I doubt Bioware is thrilled and we still haven't heard anything about sales numbers.

Side note: Everyone gushes about the hair physics, but I think it's way over-tuned and I don't get the praise. The tiniest motions make the hair flail about wildly as if it has zero weight. Take Digital Foundry's coverage, for instance. In Alex's footage, while talking about how great it is, merely pivoting the stationary character in the creator does this:

Or, in John's footage, while also talking about how amazed he is, the slightest turn of the character makes the hair again go nuts while clipping through his head, shoulders and back:

I'm not saying it's awful, and it's certainly better than some other games, but do they really think this is the pinnacle of hair physics?

I noticed something interesting. It was released Oct 31. The EA Earnings Call was Oct 29th. So they have until February 4th to figure out how to spin this to their investors.

It's a good observation, but the fact remains that it would have performed better if they'd put less work into identities, and more work into bigtitties

At some point, they're going to need to acknowledge that they need to appeal to gamers, rather than players. They can spin this easily enough, it was a singleplayer only game, it proved how enthusiastic players were for their franchises. It was released into a hostile media environment at the apex of a divisive election cycle. No one has any money thanks to Biden. It was a halo project that has downstream synergistic benefits for the entire EA Brand.

I'm more interested in seeing what pushback - if any - they get from their investors.

What I want to know is why modern writers feel the need to explain EVERYTHING. Did we REALLY need to know what the black city is? Did we REALLY need to know kf Andradtianism is fake or not? It's like the Ring of Power wanting to explain in detail how the Rings were made and so on. How about you just leave some mystery and magic in FANTASY world? Is that so hard?!

Because they think we are all as retarded as they are and if you aren't spoonfeeding everything they won't/don't know what's happening.

Getting all the context in dialogue and clues and having to think for yourself? Gtfo here with that media 'literacy' shit. For example in Huck Fin they need a chapter titled "racism is super bad mkay?" for them to understand that the book is anti racism or else they will bitch how it is super racist because their lukewarm IQ can't connect the dots themself.

That the 'modern writers' haven't drowned in their own saliva is a fucking miracle

Of course Alex the faggot loved it.
Sure, it's a nice feature but it's not a new thing, member TressFX in the Tomb Raider reboot?
To me, it's just another example of Bioware focusing on the wrong things but then again it kind of makes sense given the type of people who worked on it and the audience they were going after.

Don't worry, the gamejournos will help Bioware at the Game Awards.

I really don't know what happened. Even in Dragon Age Inquisition, there are nuances and pacing in the main story mission to show that the writers and designers know what they are doing.

Here, there are SOME examples. Rook's final scene with Varric is almost like old school BioWare, for example, but such moments are super rare. Too much of the game feels like it had been done by people whose only social contact with fellow homo sapiens are through their echo chambers in X and Discord and whatever. Dialogues resemble parodies of Reddit posts, delivered like the person speaking the line is some shut-in uncomfortable with talking face to face with another person, or in the case of Taash, a raging hypocritical Discord mod that bullies everyone around them but still imagine themselves the victim of oppression.

Poor Rook, he doesn't even have a character. The other companions don't even seem to like him. He rarely gets dragged into conversations unless it's allowed to by the game, and the companions all form their weird orgy circles without Rook. When Lucanis goes shopping, he buys shit for all the companions... except Rook, and to add insult to the injury, this scene involves a conversation that locks you into a Lucanis romance. And by that point, he and Neve would be flirting so often - unless you cockblock them by never bringing the two of them out on missions, but this only slows the flirting down; it'd continue in the therapy hub of theirs - so your romance with him feels like he's just settling for you; he really wants that Tevinter pajeet cis woman and not your tranny with chest scars and fabulous hair self. #isLucanistransphobic

The Warden is the leader of a band of unlikely adventurers that band together to save Ferelden, each with their own motives but they have a leader to follow and even love - you. Hawke is the leader and friend and driving force of a bunch of people, some of whom have nothing but hatred for one another, but hey, they still manage to get along and even save a city because they rally around a BFF that is also the person they admire (or love to hate) - you. The Inquisitor rallies a bunch of people, most aligned to save the world, and they follow and look up to their herald - you.

Rook... well, he's there. He calls the bunch of socially inept misfits out on field assignments with him, and they all interact and fuck around him. When they talk to him, it's to unload their issues so that he can fix them. He's not a leader or anything - he's the manager that no one really likes but tolerates because he signs their paycheck. That's sad.

I didn't know Thinking Ape had a gaming channel.

Autism.
Our real world has many unexplained questions we'll never have answers to. It's what made Origins feel mostly realistic with some exceptions (Orlesian knights being able to rape willy nilly is grimderp GRRM-tier retard understanding of social order and feudalism)

Lore drop. This is...mostly fine, except for making the old gods stuff less impactful.

The elves waged war on the titans, to acquire lyrium, the Blight itself was imprisoned in the golden city(Corypheus said it was already corrupted when they got there), Solas imprisoned the Evanuris, and used their life essences to hold the veil in place-Solas' fear with the wardens was once, the last of them died, the Veil would come down.

(The titans also being made humanoidish is stupid but w/e).

Basically...the elves ruined everything.

hmm this means the crusades exalted marches were absolutely the right decisions

fuck them elves

still, what a dumb fucking plan. oh yeah every 100 years or so we have a continent scale war that ends with one of the load-bearing gods dying, surely this won't ever become a problem.

you can see elements of a better story that got squished in the desire to clean the slate with both inquisition and this game. what a shame.
